Challenges Malawi had the privilege of Brenda’s visit, who is the Director of Business Growth Services for Challenges Group. She had an amazing time seeing what Challenges Malawi has done to help farmers under the CROPS project in Nkhotakota, Salima, and Chikwawa VACs.
Challenges Malawi in partnership with Seawater Solutions is implementing the Integrated Wetland Aquaculture Feed (IWAF), funded by GCRF AgriFood Africa Innovation Awards Round 3. The project worth £30,000 will be implemented in Chikwawa District from October 2022 to March 2023.
The project shall involve production of Salicornia in salinized soils for fish feed trials. The previous research results showed that Salicornia based fish rations increased the growth rate of the fish by over 28% compared to non-Salicornia fish feed rations.
As one way of addressing the issue of access to agricultural extension information for the farmers as well as to ease pressure of work on an extension worker, Challenges Malawi has adopted use of video extension.
