Former Rajya Sabha MP and environmental activist Vandana Chavan has cautioned that Pune could become one of the world's most polluted cities if urgent steps are not taken to address environmental challenges. Speaking at a World Environment Day programme, she highlighted shrinking green spaces, increasing vehicle emissions, rapid construction, and pressure on civic infrastructure as key concerns. Chavan stressed that balanced urban planning, stronger environmental safeguards, better public transport, and active citizen participation are essential to ensure Pune's sustainable growth and better quality of life.

🌳पर्यावरण दिनाच्या निमित्ताने आपण सर्वजण स्टेटस ठेवून झाडे लावण्याच्या गप्पा मारतोय,

पण आपल्याच देशात विकासाच्या नावाखाली अधिकृतपणे झालेल्या वृक्षतोडीची ही धक्कादायक आकडेवारी डोळे उघडणारी आहे:

🚨 राष्ट्रीय पातळीवरील महा-प्रकल्प:
अंदमान निकोबार: १.५ कोटींहून अधिक झाडे
केन-बटवा नदी जोड प्रकल्प: ४० लाखांहून अधिक झाडे
हसदेव अरण्य: १२ लाखांहून अधिक झाडे
बिहार (विविध प्रकल्प): १० लाखांहून अधिक झाडे
सिंगरोली कोळसा खाण: ६ लाखांहून अधिक झाडे

🩸 'बळी' विकासाचा की निसर्गाचा?
