It was a pleasure to receive the Zambian delegation led by H.E. Alfred Musemuna, High Commissioner of Zambia to Kenya, Mrs. Theresah Chanda, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zambia, Ms. Mulubwa Nakazwe, Zambia High Commission, and Eng. Kezias Kazuba Mwale, Zambia's candidate for the African Telecommunication Union (ATU's) Secretary-General. The delegation is attending the ‘Connected Africa Summit 2026’ being hosted in Nairobi
Our discussions focused on strengthening Zambia–Kenya cooperation in ICT infrastructure and connectivity, while underscoring our shared priorities for digital transformation. I noted Kenya's long-term membership of ATU since 1977 and the responsibility entrusted on us to temporarily host ATU's headquarters since 1999
As both Kenya and Zambia look ahead to the upcoming Ordinary Session of ATU'S Plenipotentiary Conference #CPL-26 in July this year-where Kenya is also seeking re-election to the Administrative Council for the 2027-2031 term- both countries remain committed to deepening collaboration and advancing regional connectivity @ForeignOfficeKE
Hosted Dr. Alex Mubiru, Director General of the @AfDB_Group East Africa Regional Office. The bank has a robust portfolio of projects in the country spanning roads, water, health and energy sectors.
Our conversation also centered on unlocking the full potential of Green Financing through the African Green Industrialization Initiative (AGII). I commended AfDB for its leadership of the African Alliance on Multilateral Institutions, a critical instrument for driving Africa’s push for global financial reforms. As we prepare to welcome the AfDB President for the Africa-Forward Summit next month, we are focused on innovative blended financing models that accelerates Africa’s priorities, empower our youth and drive sustainable industrialization. @ForeignOfficeKE
This morning, I had the privilege of engaging the diplomatic and international community at a working breakfast in Nairobi. With over 107 diplomatic missions, 170 international organizations and the only UN headquarters in the Global South, we are honoured hosts to more than 30,000 international civil servants, making Kenya a global diplomatic hub.
As this community expands, so must our systems. Today, we announced that Kenya is convening the inaugural Diplomatic Conference on the Administration & Management of Privileges and Immunities, on 25th and 26th June 2026, in Nairobi, a first-of-its-kind global platform to strengthen how host countries and partners operationalize international obligations set out in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and other instruments. This Conference is set to align legal and policy frameworks; Integrate digital transformation; Strengthen inter-agency coordination; Promote accountability and reciprocity and institutionalize structured engagement with partners.
I invited the diplomatic & international community to partner and engage with us as we co-own this important initiative for the benefit of all. @ForeignOfficeKE
Spoke at a dinner hosted in honor of delegates from over 40 countries attending the 12th Regional Dialogue on Biodiversity Finance for Africa and the Arab States this evening. Submitting that natural capital is not just an ecological inheritance but a foundation and catalyst for economic growth, and diversification, job creation, sustainable tourism, and national branding, I called upon the delegates to formulate innovative approaches for financing programs that reverse
Biodiversity losses. Grateful to @JLStalon Head of UNDP Kenya for the invitation. @ForeignOfficeKE
Understanding the shifting global strategic environment is essential to shaping effective and forward-looking foreign policy.
This morning, I had the privilege of delivering a lecture at the National Defence College Nairobi, to the participants of Course 28 of 2025-2026 on Kenya’s Foreign Policy in the Contemporary Strategic Environment.
Our discussion drew on insights from leading thinkers as we examined the complexity of today’s international system, the rise of regional blocs, and evolving power dynamics.
We also reflected on Africa’s position, its challenges, including debt vulnerability, climate risks, and access to capital, alongside its immense potential driven by demographics and natural resources. The East African Community continues to demonstrate meaningful progress towards regional integration.
Kenya remains committed to proactive global engagement, shaping outcomes on climate action, technology, and multilateral cooperation.
Proud of the great work by the NDC under Lt. Gen Mwinyikai, the Commandant and Ambassador Simon Nabukwesi (the Civilian Assistant Commandant).

Dr. Korir Sing'oei is genuinely one of Kenya's finest diplomats. I have had a chance to interact with him in the past and I listened to him speak in Berlin, Germany, a few moons ago. He is strict on some issues, and that is fine. We can agree to disagree. @SingoeiAKorir
Had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the UK led by Dan Hobbs to deepen our collaboration on critical security and migration issues. Our partnership with the United Kingdom is a cornerstone of our bilateral relations, firmly rooted in our shared history and mutual commitment to regional stability. We held productive discussions on accelerating the implementation of our recent Border Security Cooperation MOU and advancing the core objectives of the Kenya-UK Security Compact, ensuring that our borderlands remain secure and our communities are shielded from evolving transnational threats. @ForeignOfficeKE@UKinKenya
Dr @SingoeiAKorir has done an excellent job in the foreign office in the past four years and Kenya's Foreign policy has gone few notches higher. Of course H.E @WILLIAMSRUTO in his sole discretion has appointed few useless characters as ambassadors and overlooked seasoned officers. But the PS and his boss Hon @MusaliaMudavadi have been excellent. Cheap coordinated political skulduggery shouldn't stop these officers for delivering for the people of Kenya.
I have concluded an intensive and highly successful round of bilateral engagements in Dar es Salaam with my counterpart: Amb. Dr. Samwel William Shelukindo (Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs). We were joined by Hon. Ally Senga Gugu (Permanent Secretary, Home Affairs), a representative of Amb. Waziri Salum (Permanent Secretary, Industry & Trade) and Kenya’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, Ambassador Catherine Karemu, among other senior officials of both countries.
Our joint deliberations have firmly set the stage for the upcoming State Visit by H.E. President William Ruto in May. This is a defining moment in our diplomacy, where we are aligning our political, security, and economic instruments to unlock a new era of shared prosperity between Kenya and Tanzania.
On the economic front, our trade diplomacy is delivering historic results. Bilateral trade has surged by 108% since 2017, reaching USD 920 Million, fueled by massive cross-border investments. To sustain this momentum, we have committed to using the 10th Joint Trade Committee (JTC) which Kenya will host in Mombasa next week to try and resolve the 10 remaining Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs). We are also streamlining immigration processes, specifically addressing the USD 100 business pass and work permit hurdles, to ensure our professionals and small-scale traders benefit from the true spirit of the EAC Common Market.
Our cooperation in energy and security is equally robust. We are fast-tracking the Dar es Salaam–Mombasa Natural Gas Pipeline and the full integration of our power grids, with Kenya now facilitating electricity transmission from Ethiopia to Tanzania. Simultaneously, our Home Affairs teams are deepening intelligence sharing and joint border patrols to secure our 558km reaffirmed boundary. We also addressed sensitive consular matters with the utmost candor.
I am deeply indebted to Ambassador Shelukindo for his leadership. @ForeignOfficeKE@mfa_tanzania
