Today in Cheap Trick history: 2 Sep – (2019) Cheap Trick performed a 15-song set at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul, Minnesota, during the 2-month fall tour with ZZ Top.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 1 Sep – (1977) Only 7 months after releasing their debut album, Cheap Trick released their second studio album, “In Color”. While only reaching #73 on the Billboard 200 chart, it is regarded as one of the band’s most important albums and would reach RIAA Platinum certification in 2001.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 31 Aug – (2013) Cheap Trick made their 4th appearance at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. They performed “Sgt Pepper Live” with a small orchestra, returning after a break to play the complete, original “Live at Budokan” album and encore with the Beatles medley. Local resident Billy Corgan was out in the crowd, and caught the album flat that was thrown out during “Surrender”.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 30 Aug – (1997) Cheap Trick performed at the Riverport Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri, on a bill that included INXS and 10000 Maniacs.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 27 Aug – (2021) Cheap Trick performed at the PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, Ohio on a bill with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The band’s 19-song set included “Lookout”, “Hot Love”, “Borderline”, “On Top Of The World” and “In Another World (reprise)”.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 26 Aug – (1982) Touring in promotion of the new “One on One” album, the band performed an 18-song set at the Dr. Pepper Summer Music Festival at Pier 84 in New York. As well as 6 songs from the new release, the setlist included “Day Tripper” and “Gonna Raise Hell”.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 25 Aug – (2001) Cheap Trick performed at the Waupaca County Fair in Weyauwega Wisconsin. The 21-song set included 4 as-then unreleased songs (“Give It Away”, “Words”, “Night Time World” and “Special One”) as well as  “Taxman Mr. Thief”, “Woke Up With a Monster”, “Oh Candy” and “”Anytime”. (Note: the year was incorrectly printed on the ticket).

Today in Cheap Trick history: 23 Aug – (2014) Cheap Trick performed at the Casino New Brunswick in Moncton, Canada. The 19-song set included “Oh Candy”, “Borderline”, “Lookout” and “Didn’t Know I Had It”.
