There are over 400,000 members in the PCA across close to 2000 churches. The controversies are tied to a very small subset of the denomination. Social media does not highlight the thousands of faithful men and women living out the gospel in their local communities.

If your local church is healthy and solid, it sounds like a great place to be. Confidently join up and participate in the life of your local congregation.

Other stuff like youth groups, small groups, camps, retreats, and whatever else are all secondary to Sunday worship. Our church has many programs and activities but none come close to the importance of Sunday worship, for the believer and unbeliever.

Dan is right. Our role is to encourage people to attend a gospel believing church and trust the Spirit to work as God’s Word says He will through the Word, sacraments, and prayer. I’m thankful for the Westminster standards which articulate this and remind us of it.

This is interesting - but I would not be a fan of returning home on Saturday. Shift everything up a day and maybe you're on to something.

There are several work conferences I either attend or consider attending each year that have the expectation you arrive Monday night or Tuesday morning and the final events are Thursday afternoon/evening. No one has to be gone on the weekend and work is contained to the work week.
