#GeneralDhirajSeth, #COAS visited @NorthernComd_IA from 07 to 09 Jul 2026 to review the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control and in the hinterland. He visited @ChinarcorpsIA, @Whiteknight_IA, their formations and forward areas, where he reviewed counter-terrorism operations, security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra and the overall operational readiness.

The #COAS was briefed on the evolving security environment, operational deployments, inter-agency coordination, infrastructure development and initiatives to strengthen combat capability. He also reviewed indigenous innovations and community outreach programmes undertaken by the formations to foster peace, stability and development in the region.

Commending all ranks of the #IndianArmy and personnel of the CAPFs for their professionalism, operational excellence and unwavering commitment, the #COAS exhorted them to remain operationally agile and continue striving for excellence.

The #COAS was briefed on the operational deployments, counter-terrorism operations, inter-agency synergy, evolving operational dynamics and security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra. He also reviewed the initiatives towards #TechAbsorption, capability enhancement and integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of operations.

During the visit, the #COAS commended all ranks for their exceptional professionalism and steadfast commitment under challenging conditions and appreciated their relentless efforts in maintaining peace and stability.

OP CHANAPORA, Shopian

Based on specific intelligence input from @JmuKmrPolice, a joint search operation was launched by the #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice and @crpf_srinagar in the Gen area of Chanapora, Shopian. During the search operation, an exchange of fire took place between security forces and terrorist.

One LeT terrorist, identified as Zakir Ganai, has been eliminated in the firefight. Arms, ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered.

Operation is in progress.

OP KERAN, Kupwara

On 06 Jul 2026, based on specific intelligence input, a Search Operation was launched by #IndianArmy in the general area Keran Sector, Kupwara.

During search, security forces busted a hideout and recovered five AK Series Rifles, nine AK magazines, one Hand Grenade, a huge cache of ammunition and other war-like stores.

Repatriation of POJK Resident in Uri Sector

A POJK resident, Zeeshan Mir S/O Lal Mir, who was apprehended while crossing the Line of Control in Uri Sector on 31 May 26, was repatriated on 04 July 2026 at 1224 hrs (IST). Individual was formally handed over to Pak Army officials at the Kaman Aman Setu.

During his stay in India, Zeeshan Mir was treated with dignity, compassion and due care, reflecting the Indian Army's steadfast commitment to humanitarian values and professional conduct.

#ChinarWarriors, in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, hosted the North Kashmir Cultural Festival 2026 : “Shaam-e-Shafqat" at Zorawar Hall, Pattan, Baramulla.

Graced by dignitaries, students, teachers and civil society from across North Kashmir, the evening celebrated India’s timeless cultural mosaic through folk dances, traditional melodies and soul-stirring performances by maestros from Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Manipur and Odisha.

The festival was a tribute to unity in diversity, a reaffirmation of our shared heritage and an inspiration for youth to carry forward the spirit of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat" and contribute towards Nation Building, being a responsible citizen.

Repatriation of Pak National

A Pakistani national, Asad Khan, a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), who was apprehended in Simari village, Kupwara, on 12 June 2026 after crossing the Line of Control, was repatriated to Pakistan on 18 June 2026.

During his stay in India, Asad Khan was treated with dignity and compassion, reflecting the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian values and conduct.

His safe repatriation underscores the Indian Army’s ethos, responsibility and adherence to the highest standards of military professionalism.

OP SIMRI, Kupwara

Based on specific intelligence input, alert #ChinarWarriors, in a joint operation with @JmuKmrPolice, apprehended a Pak National near Simri Village, Kupwara on 12 Jun 2026, who had crossed the Line of Control under suspicious circumstances. Acting swiftly, the vigilant joint team of #ChinarWarriors and #JmuKmrPolice intercepted the individual and prevented any potential security breach.

Apprehended intruder is currently under investigation.

POJK intruder Apprehended

A POJK intruder has been apprehended, who was intercepted by alert Chinar Warriors while crossing the Line of Control in Uri Sector. The vigilant troops maintained restraint while challenging the intruder and surgically apprehended the individual. Intruder handed over to JKP for further legal proceedings.

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, #ArmyCdrNC, visited units deployed along the #LineOfControl in Kupwara Sector to assess robustness of anti-infiltration grid and review #OperationalPreparedness.

The Army Commander also witnessed a demonstration of innovations successfuly implemented in field conditions to integrate Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and Counter Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) with Techniques Training and Procedures (TTPs) for enhanced combat capabilities along the Line of Control. He commended all ranks for their battle hardened resilience, indomitable courage & relentless commitment to duty amidst a challenging operating environment.

#ArmyCdr stressed upon continuation of persistent endeavours to improve battle drills & skills to become technically adept, mentally robust and tactically agile.
