The escalation now appears increasingly unavoidable, especially as President Trump significantly raises the stakes.

Iran is unlikely to back down. It will likely test U.S. resolve by targeting American naval assets, while also attempting to disrupt commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz or deter tankers from transiting altogether.

Such developments would almost certainly trigger a sharp spike in global oil prices, with cascading second and third order effects particularly across Asian economies that rely heavily on Gulf energy flows. At the same time, Iran will aim to project resilience and avoid appearing to capitulate under pressure.

Further escalation would increase the likelihood of Houthi action in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, potentially threatening another critical maritime chokepoint. It would also raise the risk of Iranian strikes against infrastructure designed to bypass Hormuz, including pipelines such as the East-West corridor.

While Iran would sustain significant damage, it will attempt to maintain oil exports through alternative routes like the Jask terminal, calculating that Gulf states may ultimately suffer greater economic harm.

In any case, this is not a scenario with a clear winner, only varying degrees of loss.

The Financial Times is reporting something that should be front-page news everywhere.   

Pete Hegseth didn’t just help design the Iran war. He championed it publicly, cheered it on, and sold it to the American people. And according to the Financial Times, while his own department was in the final stages of preparing to launch it, his broker at Morgan Stanley was attempting to make a multimillion-dollar investment in the defense companies that build the weapons we used to fight it.   

The investment didn’t ultimately go through, but only because the fund wasn’t yet available on Morgan Stanley’s platform. Not because anyone stopped it.  

If these reports are accurate, the Secretary of Defense was positioned to profit from a war he helped start, using information no private investor could ever have. That is a profound betrayal of every service member he commands, and of every American who trusted this Administration with their national security.  

No one should be cashing in on privileged information while lives and national security are on the line.

BREAKING: SHOCKING TESTIMONY reveals DOGE operative wiped out research funding without training or experience

A jaw-dropping deposition is shedding new light on how the Trump administration’s controversial DOGE initiative decided which federal research grants deserved to live — and which would be wiped out.

The answer? Apparently… vibes.

Under oath, DOGE staffer Nathan Cavanaugh admitted that he and another colleague personally labeled several academic grants as the “craziest” they had seen — and canceled them despite having no experience in grant review, federal research funding, or scholarly peer review.

When pressed on why one research project was targeted, Cavanaugh didn’t point to fraud, waste, or flawed methodology. His reason? The project mentioned “feminist and queer insights.” That alone was enough.

Another grant examining the experiences of marginalized military veterans — including women, Black service members, Native Americans, immigrants, and LGBTQ troops — was also flagged and canceled. Why? Because the description “explicitly says LGBTQ.”

That was the entire explanation.

When the lawyer conducting the deposition asked Cavanaugh whether he had any background in scholarly peer review or grant evaluation, the answer was simple: “No.”

The attorney then asked whether it was appropriate for a twenty-something with no experience reviewing federal grants to make sweeping decisions that could destroy researchers’ careers and cut off funding for academic work.

Cavanaugh’s response? He saw nothing wrong with it. He argued that someone could make those decisions simply by being “well-informed” from reading books.

The lawyer then asked the obvious follow-up question: Which books? Cavanaugh’s answer? “There were no books.”

And the irony gets even sharper.

Earlier in the deposition, Cavanaugh insisted he had no regrets about people losing income and research funding because the cuts were meant to reduce the federal deficit. When asked if those actions actually reduced the deficit, he admitted they did not.

So to recap: federal research grants were canceled by people with no expertise, no training, no peer review experience, and apparently no research to guide their decisions — simply because certain projects mentioned LGBTQ issues or feminism.

And the people making those calls say they see absolutely nothing wrong with that. That’s why so many people are finally realizing that MAGA actually stands for “Morons Are Governing America.”

Прошу:
1. Зняти заборону на використання «Шолома Пам’яті».
2. Вибачитися за тиск, створений на мене протягом останніх днів.
3. В знак солідарності з українським спортом надати електрогенератори для українських спортивних об’єктів, які щодня страждають від обстрілів.

I never wanted a scandal with the IOC, and I did not create it. The IOC created it with its interpretation of the rules, which many view as discriminatory.
Although this scandal has made it possible to loudly speak about Ukrainian athletes who have been killed, at the same time the very fact of the scandal distracts a tremendous amount of attention away from the competitions themselves and from the athletes participating in them.
That is why I propose to end the scandal.
I ask:
1. Lift the ban on the use of the “Memory Helmet”.
2. Apologize for the pressure that has been put on me over the past few days.
3. As a sign of solidarity with Ukrainian sport, provide electric generators for Ukrainian sports facilities that are suffering from daily shellings.

I very much hope for a response before the start of the skeleton competitions.
