Can I just explain how wrong Donald Trump sounds to those of us in the import business? He’s bullshitting you.

Here’s the truth: I work in imports, and Trump’s claims are false. The importer (the company bringing goods into the U.S.) pays the tariffs, and that cost is added to the price of the product.

Depending on the profit margin, part of that cost gets passed on to you, the consumer—but it's not a fixed amount.

The country where the product comes from doesn’t pay the tariff. Tariffs are added to the price when the goods arrive in the U.S.

So, in the end, WE—the American consumers—are the ones paying the tariffs through higher prices at the store.

Here's what people miss on the whole Afghanistan thing. We talk a lot about how Trump released the Taliban, but that's only a small part of the story.

He released them a year before the withdraw date and gave them a date. So the Taliban went around from city to city, essentially gaining a surrender in advance.

The country wasn't lost in the days leading up to the withdraw date, it was lost in the moths leading up to it.

By the time Joe Biden was sworn in, it was already done. There are other things about moving the withdraw date that make it far more complicated than "just moving it" too.

But by and large the media has given Trump a pass on everything while blaming Biden for things that were Trump's fault.

You can't blame the backup quarterback for losing a game when he comes in down 49-7 with a minute left in the fourth quarter. But that's what has happened here.
