MLB today proposed an overhauled domestic amateur-entry system that removes high school players from the draft, makes college players eligible after sophomore year, shortens the draft from 20 to 12 rounds, and cuts bonus pool from current $358.7M to $200M, sources tell ESPN.
Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle on Joey Volchko:
"I was actually super impressed — in an era of baseball where there's strikeouts and emotional things happen in the game, I didn't see him, once, scream at our team or do anything that some of those kids do these days. I thought he was super professional and was outstanding."
Arizona State's Landon Hairston just announced on MLB Network that he's signed to return to ASU for his junior season. He, Roch Cholowski and Daniel Jackson are the three Golden Spikes Award finalists.
Paul Skenes was driving down Perry Highway in Wexford just past seven o’clock Monday night when the Pirates superstar pitcher made a pit stop. It was a Little League field.
Skenes signed autographs for over two hours, connecting with Pittsburgh's next generation.

If I see another tweet about a TEAM "hitting the portal" after having a below average year.... I'm going to lose my mind!
- I hope so, you guys stunk last year!!!
- Hit the portal or just hit the ball. Either way.
- He wasn't a good clubhouse guy. Weird.
- Oh the player you met for a WEEK- he didn't play well this year. Shocker.
Lazy recruiting can't continue in College Baseball

Wild college baseball facts as of Tuesday morning: 1. None of last year's College World Series participants made a Super Regional this season. 2. Ten of the 22 remaining teams are from the SEC; if Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas A&M win tonight, SEC would have a presence in all 8 supers.
