Columbus police were dispatched on a so‑called “high‑risk” call. An unarmed Black woman stepped out of the car with her hands up. Seconds later, she was slammed face‑first into the pavement.

This is what “routine” looks like for Black people in America: guns drawn first, questions never. There is no justification for taking a compliant woman and driving her head into the concrete. That’s not “procedure.”

That’s excessive force.

We need answers:

– Why was this level of force used on a woman who was already surrendering?

– What specific policy allegedly authorizes this takedown?

– What consequences will this officer face?

I represent families all over this country who have lost loved ones after encounters that started just like this. We will not wait for another funeral to demand accountability.

The Inspector General and city leaders must move quickly, release all footage, identify this officer, and make clear whether this conduct violates policy and the Constitution.
