Too many rural Kansas hospitals and clinics are struggling to keep their doors open, putting lifesaving care farther out of reach for Kansans.

That’s why I sat down with leaders at Kingman Healthcare Center to hear directly about the challenges they’re facing and what’s working well for them. As governor, healthcare providers who provide important, lifesaving care for our communities will always have a seat at the table.

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History? I explored the fossil exhibits, held a snake, and even played with a raccoon. I’m sure you can guess my favorite part 👀

Unfortunately, the future of this museum isn’t guaranteed. It’s set to close this December because of state budget cuts pushed by Ty Masterson. I came here to directly hear from staff and visitors about what losing this place of pride would mean. We can’t let budget cuts erase an important part of our state.

I’ll keep working with staff, local leaders, and the community to find a solution. Stop by the museum, make a donation, and encourage others to do the same! It will take all of us to keep the Sternberg Museum open for years to come.

I loved touring the Barton County Community College and meeting with educators and staff this morning! We’ve got some amazing community colleges right here at home, and it’s exciting to see students take advantage of these affordable opportunities for higher education.

Started the weekend off in Liberal at the Southwest Medical Center Health Fair! It’s so important that all of our communities have access to the care they need. As governor, I’ll fight to expand Medicaid and ensure Kansans have access to affordable healthcare, no matter their zip code.
