Bring items like paint, chemicals, cleaners, batteries, and other household pollutants for safe disposal.
This is the same day as the Free Dump Day. Drop off's for Free Dump Day will be at the landfill located at 2801 S. 54th Street.
In addition, the brush and limb site, located at 40th and Denver, will be open for brush and limb disposal.
Current water bill and ID must be shown at the gate.

After being closed during previous dump days due to construction, residents will once again use the landfill location for free dumping services.
Residents will need to bring a current water bill and ID to present at the gate.

Susan consistently goes above and beyond in her role, always putting the needs of employees first. From handling stressful situations to ensuring paychecks are processed on time, she takes tremendous pride in her work and brings years of valuable experience and dedication to the City. Her commitment, reliability, and willingness to take on extra responsibilities make her an irreplaceable asset to our organization.
A lifelong “Okie from Muskogee,” Susan proudly follows in her mother’s footsteps, who served the City for more than 40 years. She treasures the close relationships she’s built with her coworkers and considers herself blessed to be part of the City family.
When she’s not hard at work helping others, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband, Trae, cooking for family, and relaxing with trips to the beach.

Today, the Muskogee Fire Department proudly received a grant from the Muskogee Medical Foundation to purchase all new AEDs for the department.
These updated lifesaving devices will greatly enhance the ability to provide emergency medical assistance and better serve the residents of our community when every second counts.

ROAD WORK AHEAD Beginning May 14, road work will take place on E. Okmulgee Ave. from Main Street to K Street. Use caution while traveling through the work zone and follow all directional signs for your safety and the safety of others. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as this roadway is milled and overlaid to improve driving conditions for our community.
Hot Air Balloons Return to Muskogee August 21–22, 2026
For Immediate Release:
MUSKOGEE, Okla., May 11, 2026 — Families from across Oklahoma and surrounding states are invited to experience two days of entertainment, food, music, and unforgettable balloon displays during this exciting community event formally known as Oklahoma Festival of Ballooning.
“The Muskogee Hot Air Balloon Festival is a new chapter for an event that has been a favorite to anyone who has attended in previous years,” said director of Muskogee Tourism and Exposition, Justin O’Neal, “ We are excited for the changes that come with this new chapter which include a bigger emphasis on music, while keeping fan favorites such as balloon glow, free kid zone, and nightly firework displays.”
This year’s event will feature:
Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides
Nightly Hot Air Balloon Glow
Nightly fireworks display
Free Kid Zone
Food trucks and local vendors
Live Music
Nightly General Admission is $20 per vehicle. Premium Parking is available for $30 nightly or $55 for the weekend

City offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
Trash routes WILL run as scheduled.
The Recycle Drop-off Center will also be closed.
24th Street Improvement Project.
24th Street is being milled and overlaid as part of the 2019 Sales Tax approved by voters. Resurfacing will extend from Okmulgee to Peak Blvd.
This project began with the replacement of several hundred feet of storm sewer between Columbus and Denver. Roadwork started today (April 30, 2026) and will continue for the next couple of weeks.
Please follow posted detours, watch for workers, and use caution in the area. Expect possible delays, and thank you for your patience!
