A hot summer hasn't slowed progress on the Freemanville Road bridge replacement.
GDOT's contractor, Williams Contracting, reports the project remains on schedule, with the new bridge expected to open in late October.
The old bridge is gone, crews are preparing to set concrete beams, and work continues toward building the new structure.

Heads up, Milton: Fulton County Water Services will soon begin water line work along Hopewell Road between the Bethany Bend roundabout and Old Northpark Lane.
Drivers should expect intermittent single-lane closures and delays during the project, which is expected to last 5-6 weeks and finish before the new school year.
This is a Fulton County project. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Have horses on your property?
The City of Milton is offering free Fireworks signs to help remind neighbors and visitors that fireworks are prohibited within 200 yards of properties housing horses.
Fireworks can startle horses and create dangerous situations for both animals and people.
Signs are available at City Hall during business hours, just stop by the Community Development counter to pick one up.

Roadwork Alert: Starting today, June 3, crews will begin a full-depth reclamation of Hopewell Road between Birmingham and Hamby roads, rebuilding the roadway from the ground up for a smoother, longer-lasting surface.
Expect significant delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot vehicles, with one-way traffic alternating through the work zone.
Once Hopewell is complete, crews will move to Thompson Road between Hopewell Road and south of Tabbystone Pass.

Many of you may have already noticed the signage and prep work underway near the Freemanville Road bridge over Cooper Sandy Creek. As of yesterday, May 26, the bridge will be closed as part of a Georgia Department of Transportation replacement project that will bring a months-long detour to the area.
Landrum Road will also be closed to through traffic during construction to help protect the gravel roadway and maintain safety. Residents who live on Landrum Road will still have access.
GDOT pushed the original closure timeline back at the Cityโs request to help avoid impacts during the school year.

Wildflower work is underway at Milton City Park and Preserve.
Crews have started mowing and prepping ~11 acres, with 2 to 3 acres completed per day. Seeding is next, with a goal to finish by April 15. Boardwalk cleaning and staining will follow, so expect some temporary access impacts.
Blooms are on the way.
