⚡The "energy traps" in organic photovoltaics — spin-triplet excitons — have long been lost as heat, unable to generate electricity. #CityUHK Professor Alex Jen's team has broken a decade-long bottleneck, “turned waste into treasure” by recycling these excitons into usable charge carriers, achieving 20.5% power conversion efficiency!

Two breakthroughs:
🔬 Triplet excitons re-dissociate into free charge carriers
📈 Lab efficiency has surpassed 21%, paving the way for next-gen photovoltaics

Oyster shells — not just waste, but a "super tool" for marine ecosystems! 🦪
#CityUHK and Sino Group have launched the "Oyster Inno Discovery" programme for oyster reef restoration. Nearly 300 hand-crafted oyster shell strings have been deployed at the Marina of Gold Coast Yacht & Country Club, creating new homes for marine life. 🌊🐠

The programme also features STEAM workshops and marine life displays to bring conservation into schools and communities. 🔬

This collaboration brings research into the community, connecting universities, businesses, and citizens to protect our oceans. 🤝🏻

On Day 3 of GSDC 2026, #CityUHK continued to lead multiple sessions on sustainable development! 🧩

Professors RAY LC and Elke Reinhuber showed how AI breathes new life into cultural heritage — reconstructing lost fragments of history through imaging technology. 🏛️

Professor Benjamin Horton moderated a panel with #CityUHK scholars and the Mayor of Padang City on tackling extreme weather — stressing that academia, industry, and government must join forces. 🌪️

Professor Kenneth Leung stressed at the Green Skills Summit that the green transition must be just and inclusive — leaving no one behind. 🤝🏻

The final session featured Professor Li Tanghua on coastal infrastructure — eco-engineering and mangrove planting can revitalise shorelines as both defences and nurseries for life. 🌊
