Psychology already named this. It's called post-traumatic growth, and the data on it is one of the most counterintuitive findings in the entire field.
Tedeschi and Calhoun identified it in 1996. They studied people who'd survived the worst things that can happen to a human: cancer, combat, assault, the death of a child. Roughly half to two-thirds of trauma survivors reported experiencing it. They didn't just recover. They came out with a fundamentally different operating system.

Your core beliefs about how the world works have to be destroyed before you can rebuild them into something stronger. The people who struggle the most are the ones who come out the most transformed.
Camus got closest to articulating it philosophically. The Myth of Sisyphus opens with one sentence: the only truly serious philosophical problem is suicide. His entire book is an argument that once you've stared into the void and rejected it, you don't return to your previous life. You enter a different one. He called it revolt.
The Chinese language solved the naming problem. 择生. Two characters. 择 means to choose. 生 means life. The decision to live. The inverse of 择死, the decision to die. English needs an entire paragraph to describe what Mandarin captures in two syllables.
