A coach can talk to their players every day, check in, send texts, give feedback and still not really connect. Contact is easy, it’s being around and giving information. But connection is different. That’s about being present. It’s about actually seeing the player, listening, understanding what’s underneath the surface. A coach that connects with players is a coach that will challenge them to be the best versions of themselves as well.
