If you want to be recognized…
Be recognizable.
That means 1) the obvious, perform in an exceptional way. And if that’s not possible yet then 2) stand out through your personality and enthusiasm for the sport and team. Be supportive, be helpful, be kind and be present.
#1 some can do. #2 everyone can do.
The Portland Trail Blazers organization is deeply saddened by the passing of Rick Adelman, a franchise legend and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer. Rick was one of the most influential figures in franchise history, a member of the inaugural 1970 team and integral coach throughout the 80s and 90s, guiding the team to Finals appearances in 1990 and 1992. Rick's basketball brilliance helped shape multiple eras of Trail Blazers basketball, earning the respect and admiration of the basketball community and cementing his legacy. His thoughtful leadership, integrity, and kindness impacted all those around him on and off the court. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Adelman family, and all those in the world of basketball who were touched by his impact.

An underrated cheat code in life: being incredibly reliable. Show up on time. Do what you say you will. Own your mistakes. It goes so much further than you think.
Relationships are rarely built in the big moments. They're built in the small ones. In 30 seconds at the door greeting a student with a smile, high five, or a simple "Glad you are here!" In a compliment after a hard conversation. In a quiet correction. In choosing to listen instead of lecture.

@0Beanie05923291 Same with big extravagant school kick off or school wrap up events. Tone it down, go bare bones, no one needs a massive balloon arch to ‘inspire’ us for the upcoming school year or summer vacation.
@ABC@DisneyPlus Phones are not the issue or cause of bad test scores. It’s student apathy towards high stakes testing. They don’t see the any value in it. I have seen so many students just fill in bubbles and put their head down, because they know the test holds no weight.
Never understood H.S. coaches who ignore freshman or JV programs.
That’s the future of your varsity team.
Then they complain about no depth, culture, or players ready for varsity.
If you only coach varsity, you’re not building a program—you’re just coaching a team.
Coaching is a thankless job, with little appreciation given. Long hours, constant criticism, you win it is all the kids, you lose it is all your fault. Thank you to the coaches out there rocking it. We do not hear that enough. Bless you all.
@steven_montoya@CoachBrandonJr The ploy used is that the ‘exposure’ game/tournament that costs $300+ is going to get them a scholarship, or that by not playing year round they are getting better. Playing multiple sports and learning to move your body and adapt to other things is a lost art.
I am getting really tired of out-of-season coaches and clubs pressuring student athletes to participate in weekday practices or weekend tournaments while they are competing in in-season sports.
Let kids compete and be all-in during their season.
