Walking down the street in Toronto, Canada… a man stops me because I’m wearing @KentStFootball gear and said his good friend from high school played Fullback for Kent State in the 70s.
Flashes are everywhere‼️ Thank you to #42 - Neville Paul Edwards; two random people in this world connected and shared a moment about Kent State.
More on former Flash : 𝙉𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨
His Time at Kent State (Late 1970s)
Playing under the number #42, Neville Edwards was a powerful, hard-nosed fullback for the Kent State Golden Flashes. He was a key part of the offense during the late 1970s, serving as a reliable blocker and short-yardage rusher in the highly competitive Mid-American Conference (MAC).
His Later Career in Canada
Though he loved his time in Ohio, Edwards returned to Toronto, Ontario, where he lived out a multi-faceted and highly respected career: [1]
•Educator & Coach: He spent decades working in the Ontario school system, using his football background to mentor, teach, and coach thousands of young Canadian student-athletes. He was widely celebrated by his students and players for his quick wit, spontaneous music trivia, and larger-than-life personality. [1]
•Acting Career: Edwards successfully transitioned his physical presence and charisma into a prolific career as a Canadian television and film actor. Over more than twenty years, he appeared in major Hollywood blockbusters and TV shows filmed in Canada, including roles in Dawn of the Dead (2004), Exit Wounds (2001), The Human Stain (2003), and Frankie Drake Mysteries. Roosevelt Nix is the all time leader at KSU in tackles for loss with 65.0
Playing from 2010-2013, Nix is the only player in program history to be All-MAC first team four times⚡️
He remains the only freshman to win MAC DPOY (2010)
Congrats on the early recognition… shows the work that has been put in place to get to where we are today.
However, it’s the #HAB1TS that are built from the process that will ultimately determine our overall success. Keep building those #HAB1TS.
