Remembering former Cobbler Fred Dawes, who sadly passed away on this day in 1989.

The defender made 184 Football League appearances for the Cobblers between 1929 and 1936, scoring once, before later moving on to Crystal Palace.

Ex-Cobbler Jake Evans has signed a new contract with Leicester City before joining Cheltenham Town on a season-long loan.

The 17-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the Cobblers, gaining his first taste of regular senior football.

Ex-Cobbler Louis Moult has signed for AFC Telford United ahead of the new season.

Louis joined Northampton Town in 2012 following a successful trial, going on to make 13 appearances for the Cobblers.

After training with the PFA this summer alongside several other former Cobblers, he’s now back in club football.

Ex-Cobblers assistant manager Alan Knill has joined Huddersfield Town as Assistant Head Coach under Martin Drury.

Knill was Chris Wilder’s assistant at the Cobblers and played a key role in the unforgettable 2015/16 League Two title-winning campaign.

Former Cobblers midfielder Jack Sowerby is back in football after joining Northern Premier League West Division side Ramsbottom United.

Sowerby has been without a club since leaving Northampton Town in 2025, where he made more than 140 appearances during a memorable five-year spell at Sixfields.

We are excited to announce that we've agreed a deal to bring former Fleetwood Town and Northampton Town midfielder Jack Sowerby to the club for the 2026/27 season.

Manager Rob Henry was understandably delighted with his latest acquisition saying, "We are thrilled to have Jack on board for the forthcoming season".

"He's a player I have known for a long time and has played League One and Two football for 10 years, playing over 260 games, which is a fantastic achievement.
