Interested in early 19th century culture. Author of a book about the poet John Keats and his friend, the painter and diarist, B.R. Haydon. Also colsilver on 🦋
Keats goes on "I am sorry that Wordsworth has left a bad impression wherever he visited in town by his egotism, Vanity, and bigotry... Yet he is a great poet if not a philosopher". And he influenced Keats, as @ColSilverUK blogs https://t.co/nDEHyR9Cbq
@amazon Nothing better illustrates the fact that you don't own anything you've "bought" from a big tech company than Amazon's decision to 'retire' all pre-2012 Kindles I have three that are in like-new condition. They have hundreds of books on them and work perfectly. #Kindle
Gaza:
▪️A peer-reviewed study in The Lancet Global Health estimated 75,200 violent deaths between October 7, 2023, and January 5, 2025.
▪️Over 65,000 additional deaths from starvation.
▪️Women and children comprise approximately 60% to 70% of total fatalities.
▪️An additional 10,000 people are estimated to be missing and presumed buried under rubble.
▪️Over 80% of buildings in Gaza are reported to be damaged or destroyed, with an estimated 320,000+ housing units affected and over 60 million tonnes of rubble created.
Hell on earth. And there is absolutely no justification for this scale of atrocity whatsoever.
Israel ruthlessly carpet bombed Lebanon today, killing at least 180 people and injuring more than 800.
How does the BBC report it?
“Israel says it hit more than 100 command centres and military sites in 10 minutes…”
This is how war crimes are laundered.
Interesting how wars are named after the country attacked: Vietnam War, Iraq War, Afghanistan War, Iran War... That's because if they were named after the attacker, it would be too confusing, since 80% of conflicts would be called the US war.
Hussam Abu Safieh is one of the Palestinian doctors (among 95 other doctors) that will be killed by the “Israeli death penalty for hostages.”
Do not let them murder him. Repost this.
@dlLambo We live in a world where the Israeli war crimes in Gaza (not to mention the terrible death toll & human suffering they're causing in the West Bank & Lebanon) have been completely knocked off the news by the Israeli & American blanket bombing of Iran. Who is going to stop this?
@SkyNews About 10 seconds of 'news' that climate change is pushing the world 'beyond its limits' before adverts and then a jolly piece about country music. You KNOW this is not real journalism, not serious, a shameful dereliction of duty, don't you? Or don't you? #climate#news
Sir David Attenborough explained to Professor Brian Cox that Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species is uniquely compelling because of its accessibility and lack of scientific "jargon".
US media coverage sanitizes war and obscures the full horror of what we are doing to Iran. In this article I show how the war is far more twisted and evil than Americans understand: https://t.co/oSfPcfJq3J
I wish we lived in a world where I didn't feel constantly compelled to post this video, but until then here's Tony Benn speaking on war with clarity and moral conviction that you won't see from the evil people running the world today
When you’re watching #DirtyBusiness, remember that these are REAL stories, REAL lives, REAL families that have been devastated by the greed of “our” water companies. It’s a national outrage and they must be held to account

I love the 'insect painting' of Jan van Kessel I (1626-79) so did my own little pencil & ink version of it. It's relaxing and meditative. #art#drawing#MentalHealthMatters
@elonmusk We went to the moon half a century ago. There's nothing there, it's a lifeless rock. You'd have thought we'd want to protect and nurture our uniquely beautiful planet which is teeming with colourful life. Instead, we are destroying it and talking about going back to the moon.
@jeremycorbyn I thought the same when I travelled around the UK with work in the 1990s and saw CCTV cameras proliferating in public spaces. I couldn't believe there wasn't an uproar then, and I don't expect one now. Through sheer ignorance, we seem happy with a growing Big Brother presence.
@SkyNews Just switched to @BBCNews to continue hearing EU Commission President speech at #Davos26 after you interrupted her to show David Beckham saying... literally nothing. Please be more serious, that was ridiculous.
