Angels Among Us: I shared a story with our school-based therapists today about an angel in my life who encouraged me when it was much needed. I hope it empowers them to be an angel in someone's life because you don't realize the impact you have on children every single day.

Spoke to the staff of our 4 schools after 2 days of professional development at @uhdowntown College of Public Service before the start of the 2019-20 school year. I want our campuses to be the standard that others desire to replicate. Our goal is to be the best. #HCDEImpact

Inspired by our Fortis Academy students for overcoming addiction & staying on the road to recovery. I've learned that things that make you grow will burn, pinch or hurt. But you will be stronger for it. I'm excited an audacious idea came to life to help children in our county.

Challenged ABS East student Michael Carley to a game of chess during the third annual HCDE Chess Tournament between ABS East and West. Michael beat me this year, but looking forward to a rematch next year after more time of improving my skills. Congratulations!

Visited with ABS West students during this morning's groundbreaking of the new campus in southwest Houston. These students will attend the new campus when it opens early 2020 and serves 150 students with emotional and intellectual disabilities from multiple area school districts.
