Solo kiddo & dog dad, widowed Texpat returned to my Mid Atlantic stomping grounds. Personal thoughts only here. @energy, former @edf @comverge @firstsolar
to the election workers: you clocked in very early this morning and many of you will still be working long after the last voter has voted. many are exhausted from early voting but you're back today for the busiest day of all. there's no democracy without you. we're so grateful.
Before all of the votes are counted, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what @KamalaHarris and her team have achieved. Trump should be running away with it, but he isn’t because Harris has run a near-flawless campaign under the utmost pressure. https://t.co/E6KfnDEWWZ
Costa Rica, once home to rampant logging, has now almost doubled the size of its rainforest. They turned it all around within a generation. It can be done.
Protect people and the planet.

We've been hearing politicians talk about bringing manufacturing back to America for decades. Those were mostly empty promises. But not anymore! Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration & 117th Congress, a new America manufacturing rennaisance is underway. Let's keep it going.
Innovation at the Grid Edge with DOE's Ram Narayanamurthy: Ram and I discussed the DOE's Connected Communities program, demand flexibility, load growth and energy optimization, and making grid edge technologies affordable for all. #energytwitter

A Texas state senator who oversees regulated utilities... was doing $$ millions of business with regulated utilities. My latest -->

He wrote four bills that benefitted electricity monopoly Oncor at the expense of its ratepayers. Meanwhile, Oncor paid at least $31 million to a company King cofounded. The story, from @russellgold

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act & Infrastructure Law, the Biden-Harris Administration is making multi-billion dollar investments in clean energy, clean air, and the jobs of the future at least once a week (sometime several per week). They're rarely covered much, and never break through to the public, but they're all important.
Fmr. Gov. Larry Hogan shrank state government by “attrition,” he told me, fulfilling a campaign promise when he ran for gov. But those actions left workers to do more with less and at times unable to deliver key services to taxpayers. @BaltimoreBanner

🚨🚨This is a BIG deal from @QuantumScapeCo: "The first anode-free solid-state lithium-metal cell design ever produced for automotive applications." The specifications on this B-sample (a cell in full commercial format, ready for production scale-up) are 🔥🔥. Read on 👇
There's a new storage record in ERCOT: 4,161 megawatts, nearly 7% of total demand. At the time the record was set, there were over 21,100 MW worth of thermal power capacity unavailable. Batteries do not require lengthy outage seasons like thermal plants do. #txlege#energytwitter
@EricGimon@duncancampbell Whoops, I commented before reading the whole thread - it's complicated for sure, I don't believe ERCOT has it figured out either as some said. NEM is an imperfect analogy but there are some important similarities.
We should be helping.
These are 10 million of our neighbors with a failed bulk power system while a hurricane comes ashore.
Whatever the history. Whatever the politics. We should help.
Cuban power grid collapses for fourth time as hurricane nears https://t.co/isBE562028
@cece_coffey Ugh, how awful. I’m so glad you’re ok! The fact that there’s nothing you could have done better and that the driver was unwilling to be cautious or take responsibility is beyond infuriating. Take good care of yourself.
Renewable energy is growing faster in the global south than in rich countries, RMI finds, in spite of
-Global south still facing a higher cost of capital
-Development banks’ failed efforts to de-risk trillions of $ in private investment to emerging markets

@tylerhnorris So awful Tyler - I’m so sorry for all the loss you and your loved ones are suffering. Thank you for sharing and humanizing this awful tragedy for those of us who aren’t directly impacted. And especially thanks for sharing what we *can* do to help those impacted. Giving now!
NEW polling from our colleagues at @SEIA finds that solar is the most popular source of power in TX! 73% of Texans believe that solar and battery storage makes the grid more resilient.
