In September, Miami-Dade honors Cuban Heritage Month, celebrating the culture, history, and traditions that have shaped our community. Through legislation introduced by Chairman @CommishArod, #OurCounty acknowledges the lasting contributions of Cuban Americans.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Colombia following today’s devastating earthquake.
As a community with deep ties to Colombia, we stand in support with the Colombian people during this difficult time. May God bring comfort, strength and healing to all those affected.
Congratulations to my friend, Ambassador Danny Perez, on your confirmation to serve as the United States Ambassador to Brazil.
From serving four years together in the Florida House to seeing you become Speaker, and now take on this incredible responsibility, it’s been an honor to witness your unwavering commitment to public service. This achievement is well deserved, and I have no doubt you’ll represent our nation with the same integrity, professionalism, and dedication that have defined your career while continuing to make all of us in Miami proud.
Congratulations, my friend. May God continue to bless you and your family as you begin this new chapter of service to our country.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Doral Police Department as they mourn the loss of one of their own. Please keep the officer’s family, loved ones, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May they find comfort and strength in the days ahead.
Today, our Youth Engagement Program participants presented their legislative proposals and engaged in meaningful dialogue with Miami-Dade County department directors. Their thoughtful ideas, professionalism, and commitment to civic engagement reflect the promise of the next generation of leaders.
Students in the Youth Engagement Program got a behind-the-scenes look at the important work of the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Office and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, gaining firsthand insight into how both departments serve the community.
Thank you to the brave men and women of @MiamiDadeFire and all of our local, state, and federal partners for your tireless efforts to contain the West Miami-Dade brush fires and protect our community. District 10 and all of Miami-Dade County are deeply grateful for your courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to keeping our residents safe.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue has officially demobilized its response to the brush fires in West Miami-Dade, and our units have cleared the scene. The Florida Forest Service continues monitoring conditions and conducting spot checks. We remain ready to assist as needed.
Thank you to our community for your patience, support, and cooperation throughout this incident. We appreciate the trust placed in us as we worked to keep our community safe.

If you smell smoke or notice hazy conditions, limit prolonged outdoor activity and take precautions if you are sensitive to poor air quality. Everyday preparedness starts with planning ahead. Whether it’s severe weather, a road closure, or an unexpected incident, knowing alternate routes and transportation options can help you adapt when conditions change and get where you need to go safely. Before you travel, check traffic conditions and roadway impacts at https://t.co/yJcI3rHQro.
Due to ongoing police activity, SW 87 Avenue is closed from SW 56 Street (Miller Drive) to SW 68 Street, and SW 64 Street is closed from State Road 878 to SW 92 Avenue. Please use alternate routes and avoid the area until further notice.
Nearly 30 years after the murder of the Brothers to the Rescue heroes, justice is finally moving forward.
On Cuban Independence Day, the United States is officially pursuing charges against Raúl Castro and members of the Cuban regime for the 1996 shootdown that killed Carlos Costa, Armando Alejandre Jr., Mario de la Peña, and Pablo Morales over international waters.
Communist brutality can never erase the truth, and time will never silence the fight for justice.
Miami-Dade’s mental health crisis demands action grounded in accountability, transparency, and results. Today, I pushed for Jackson Health to conduct an independent review of the proposed Mental Health Facility to ensure the staffing, operations, and long-term funding are truly capable of delivering the care our community deserves. Families in crisis cannot afford failure, and taxpayers deserve confidence that this project will work not just on day one, but for years to come. I look forward to Jackson Health’s written assessment and recommendations ahead of the June 16 Board meeting, when this item returns for consideration.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms and grandmas who make our world brighter every single day.
Today, I especially celebrate my beautiful wife, Licette, whose love, strength, and heart inspire our family daily, and my mom, who taught me the meaning of unconditional love and sacrifice.
I’m also so grateful for the wonderful mothers and grandmothers on my staff who balance service, leadership, and family with so much grace and dedication.
And today, we also remember and honor the mothers and grandmothers watching over us from heaven, whose love and legacy continue to live in our hearts every day.
Wishing all the mothers out there a day filled with love, appreciation, and joy.
