Commissioner Inspects Ganesh Immersion Arrangements at NTR Marg & Tank Bund

GHMC Commissioner Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, along with Zonal Commissioners of Golconda & Khairatabad, ASP, GHMC, and Additional Commissioner (Sanitation), inspected arrangements at NTR Marg and Tank Bund for tomorrow’s Ganesh idol immersion.

The Commissioner directed officials to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination, adequate facilities for devotees and procession participants, and round-the-clock sanitation. Sanitation teams were instructed to promptly clear waste and immersion-related debris and maintain cleanliness along procession routes and immersion points.

Officials were directed to complete all arrangements on priority and ensure a safe, smooth and hassle-free immersion programme for the public.

GHMC conducts awareness programme on waste segregation

GHMC, in association with TAAPMA (Telangana and Andhra Plastic Manufacturers Association), conducted an awareness programme at NTR Marg, Khairatabad, for devotees attending the Bada Ganesh procession. The programme focused on waste segregation at source and the responsible collection and disposal of plastic waste.

A dedicated training centre was inaugurated by Commissioner, GHMC, Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, along with Sri B. Santosh, IAS, Additional Commissioner, in the presence of TAAPMA representatives and members. Devotees were sensitised on avoiding littering, segregating waste and depositing plastic waste at designated collection points. The initiative aimed to promote a clean and environmentally responsible Ganesh festivities across Hyderabad.

SIR Field Visit Conducted by Electoral Roll Observer

Electoral Roll Observer Shri Ilambarithi, IAS, along with District Election Officer, Hyderabad, Shri R. V. Karnan, IAS, and Additional Commissioner (Elections), GHMC, Shri Santhosh Badhavath, IAS, conducted a field visit to review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Hyderabad District on Wednesday.

The officials inspected the M.S. Maktha Hearing Centre, opposite Lok Bhavan, covering 19 Polling Stations (PS Nos. 104–122) under 60-Khairathabad Assembly Constituency. During the visit, the officials reviewed the notice cases and the hearing process being undertaken at the centre.

The Electoral Roll Observer interacted with electors appearing for hearings and examined the supporting documents submitted by them. Particular attention was paid to verification of 2002 SIR linkage, scrutiny of documents, correction of electoral roll details and the basis on which cases were proposed for disposal.

The officials directed the election authorities to ensure that every case is examined objectively and disposed of strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India. They emphasized that electors must be provided a proper and reasonable opportunity of being heard before taking any decision on their cases.

The officials also stressed maintaining accuracy and due procedure throughout the SIR hearing process to ensure preparation of a credible and error-free electoral roll.

🌿 ACF Trainees Explore Urban Forestry Initiatives in Hyderabad

A study tour of 51 trainee Assistant Conservators of Forests (ACFs) from CASFOS, Dehradun, representing Maharashtra, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Mizoram and Nagaland, was conducted in Hyderabad to provide practical exposure to urban forestry and biodiversity management.

Accompanied by Sri Arun Kumar, IFS, Principal, CASFOS, Dehradun, the trainees interacted with Sri R.V. Karnan, Commissioner, GHMC, who highlighted the vital role of ACF officers in forest protection and natural resource conservation.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of balancing environmental conservation with infrastructure development, ensuring that development goes hand in hand with environmental protection.

He also shared GHMC’s initiatives in urban forestry, biodiversity conservation and environmental management.

The trainees visited Indira Park and Ecopark, Kothwalguda, developed by HMDA, and studied practices in urban greening, biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of green spaces.

🚩 Ganesh Procession Route Inspection

🙏🌿 Eco-Friendly Clay Ganesh Idols Distributed at Telangana High Court

As part of the initiative to promote eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi, the Bar Association distributed eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols to its members, with Hon’ble Chief Justice Sri Aparesh Kumar Singh participating in the distribution at the High Court for the State of Telangana. Bar association president and secretary and other , advocates and GHMC Commissioner Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, were also present on the occasion.

The initiative encourages citizens to choose natural clay idols instead of Plaster of Paris (PoP) and celebrate the festival responsibly while protecting Hyderabad’s environment and water bodies. 🌱💧

GHMC Standing Committee Reviews Key Civic Development Proposals

Special Officer, GHMC, Sri Jayesh Ranjan Garu, and Commissioner, GHMC, Sri R.V. Karnan Garu, conducted the Standing Committee meeting at GHMC Head Office on September 1, 2026.

The meeting reviewed important proposals relating to civic infrastructure, sanitation, public amenities, road development and administrative matters.

Key proposals discussed included:
🏗️ Development of Devunikunta Graveyard at Vijaynagar Colony, Masab Tank, estimated at ₹400 lakh
🚻 Maintenance of 12 public toilets
👷 Continuation of services of 71 contract workers in Adibatla Circle
🛣️ Missing-link road development proposals to improve connectivity and strengthen Hyderabad’s road network, including corridors connecting Bairagiguda–Narsingi, Badangpet–Thurkayamjal via Nadargul, Badangpet–Nadargul and NH-44 Tondupally Junction to the ORR service road

The Special Officer directed officials to thoroughly examine the proposals, ensure effective inter-departmental coordination and take timely action. The status and Action Taken on proposals from previous Standing Committee meetings were also reviewed.

All concerned Additional Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners and Heads of Departments were directed to follow up and ensure prompt further action.

🌉 Moosarambagh High-Level Bridge Inaugurated on 31 August 2026 | A New Boost to Hyderabad’s Connectivity

The ₹52 crore High-Level Bridge across the Musi River at Moosarambagh was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy, marking another significant milestone in Hyderabad’s urban infrastructure.

🙏 GHMC Reviews Preparations for Ganesh Utsav–2026

GHMC Commissioner Sri R. V. Karnan, IAS, and Additional Commissioner Sri B. Santosh chaired a coordination and review meeting with representatives of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi at the GHMC Head Office Complex, Tank Bund Road, to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of Ganesh Utsav–2026.

The meeting reviewed preparations including sanitation, road repairs, barricading, lighting, parking, crane positioning at immersion points, the finalized Balapur–Tank Bund procession route, and deployment of Ganesh Action Teams. Additional manpower and machinery, mobile toilets and drinking water facilities will be provided at major immersion points, with close coordination among GHMC, Hyderabad City Police, HYDRAA and other line departments through the control room.

The Commissioner directed officials to complete all pending works, including tree pruning, road repairs and street lighting, on priority. GHMC assured full support and coordination and appealed to citizens and devotees to cooperate with authorities and prefer eco-friendly, clay-based Ganesh idols to protect Hyderabad’s water bodies and environment. 🌿🙏

GHMC Commissioner Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, convened a review meeting on public health, vector control and entomological activities at the GHMC Head Office on 29 August 2026.

The Commissioner reviewed measures to prevent and control vector-borne diseases, with focus on entomological surveillance, identification of mosquito breeding sources, preventive measures and effective field-level implementation.

Experts from Osmania University and NIPHM shared technical inputs on scientific mosquito control and elimination of breeding locations.

The commissioner directed Zonal Commissioners and Circle AMOHs to intensify field inspections, ensure timely action on identified breeding spots and create greater citizen awareness on maintaining hygienic surroundings and preventing water stagnation.

He emphasized that scientific surveillance, inter-departmental coordination and prompt field action are essential to strengthen public health measures across Hyderabad.

GHMC Commissioner Shri R. V. Karnan personally visited 7 temples in Sanath Nagar, Ameerpet Circle and performed the Udvasana Pooja, lending his support to this meaningful initiative.

The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, who responsibly handed over old frames, idols, calendars and other sacred materials for respectful collection and scientific handling. ✨

At the temples, volunteers dismantled and segregated the collected materials by type, with recyclables being carefully transported to recycling facilities.

The initiative received appreciation from temple associations, citizens and volunteer organisations, reflecting Hyderabad’s collective commitment to faith, responsibility and a cleaner environment. 🌱

🚧 Commissioner Reviews Moosarambagh Bridge & Nalgonda Flyover Works

GHMC Commissioner Sri R. V. Karnan, IAS, along with the Chief Engineer, AC (Sanitation) and GHMC officials, inspected the Moosarambagh Bridge and Nalgonda Flyover works.

The Moosarambagh Bridge work has been completed, strengthening vital connectivity from Amberpet to Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar and Nagole. The Commissioner instructed officials to keep all arrangements ready for its inauguration.

At Nalgonda Flyover, the main flyover has been completed. The Commissioner directed officials to complete the A4 up-ramp by today and the A3 side ramp towards Champapet within 2–3 days, paving the way for its inauguration.

Once operational, the flyover will provide significant relief to commuters travelling through Chanchalguda, Saidabad, Santosh Nagar, IS Sadan, Owaisi Hospital, Kanchan Bagh, Champapet and Sagar Road.

🌉 Commissioner, GHMC Inspects Musi River Bridge at Moosarambagh Ahead of Inauguration

Commissioner, GHMC, Sri R.V Karnan inspected the newly constructed bridge across the Musi River at Moosarambagh, ahead of its scheduled inauguration. Constructed at an estimated cost of ₹52.00 crore, the bridge is aimed at strengthening traffic connectivity and providing improved transportation facilities to citizens.

The bridge is 400 metres long and 14.5 metres wide, facilitating smooth and efficient vehicular movement across the Musi River. 3.5-metre-wide footpaths have also been provided to ensure safe and convenient pedestrian movement.

During the inspection, the Commissioner reviewed the bridge, approaches and allied infrastructure, along with arrangements required for opening the facility to traffic. Officials were instructed to ensure completion of all pending works, including road approaches, safety measures, lighting, pedestrian facilities and other finishing works, to the required standards before inauguration.

The new bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Amberpet and Moosarambagh, reduce travel time and ease congestion on existing routes. The Commissioner directed the concerned officials to ensure proper coordination and complete all pending works on priority so that the bridge can be made available to the public smoothly and safely.

SIR-2026 | Field Inspection at Karwan AC-64

DEO & GHMC Commissioner Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, inspected the ongoing distribution of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Notices at Polling Stations No. 94 and 95, Moghal Nagar, Karwan Assembly Constituency–64.

During the inspection, the Commissioner interacted with the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), BLO Supervisors, AERO and ERO and reviewed the progress of notice distribution. The officials were instructed to ensure that notices reach the concerned electors without delay and that voters are properly guided regarding the verification process, required documents, forms and submission procedure.

He also interacted with local residents, explained the importance of the SIR exercise, and advised electors to carefully verify the details mentioned in the notice and complete the required process within the prescribed timeline.

Citizens were encouraged to approach their concerned BLOs for any clarification or assistance. The Commissioner stressed proper coordination, prompt response to queries and effective facilitation of electors to ensure a smooth and transparent SIR process.
