So proud of the decades long tradition of authentic youth led research and action for environmental justice in our community. We have big challenges but our vision and belief is much greater.
Thanks to everyone who continues to believe and act on their belief that communities have a right to shape their own development no matter how steep the odds or how deep the history of injustice. We're doing this together. Watch now and get involved! https://t.co/McCdMwTdne
@MattZeitlin Coal piling up at the CSX terminal 1,000 feet from our homes and Rec Center in Curtis Bay since March 29th. In Dec we released this community led investigative report verifying decades old concerns about coal dust throughout our community: https://t.co/XHNxaEUozl
Here's how much coal has piled up 1,000 feet from our homes and rec center since March 29th...still no action for #EnvironmentalJustice from @MDEnvironment following the Dec 14th report finding coal dust throughout our community. This is an everyday emergency.
"...the new bill couldn’t be invoked when the MDE considers an air pollution permit renewal for the CSX coal terminal...It also wouldn’t include renewals for the trash incinerator nearby in the Westport area, or the medical waste incinerator..."

@GovWesMoore We would appreciate you taking the time to visit our community of Curtis Bay...we have multiple health and environmental emergencies that require your leadership. Thank you https://t.co/N4qyD2EZuG
@sierraclubmd@UULMMD@reginatboyce@MichaelFor27@MDLCV@MDClimateHub We need to move past the point where groups are claiming to do EJ work FOR rather than WITH impacted communities...sadly that's not the case with this bill. Read more here and please be open to criticism...so far it's only been shut down and silenced. https://t.co/Nc9czqsYJr
@sierraclubmd@UULMMD@reginatboyce@MichaelFor27@MDLCV@MDClimateHub Please be open & transparent by sharing that many Maryland EJ communities (including Curtis Bay) oppose this bill because it not only fails to address our air pollution concerns but it risks diverting agency resources away from addressing the most pressing public health concerns.
This change happened because community members and supporters are willing to step up and begin healing our community by addressing the root issues that continue to do active harm...like sending medical waste to be burned at an incinerator that regularly violates the law.
BREAKING: John’s Hopkins announces at today’s council hearing they’ll stop sending material to the Curtis Bay medical waste incinerator within 30 - 60 days in response to community calls for action following repeat violations by the facility owners!
Maryland regulators filed suit today against South Baltimore's medical waste incinerator over emissions violations, just months after operators of the facility agreed to pay $1.75M penalty for a litany of environmental violations. w/ @Dylan_Segelbaum https://t.co/ezyGN0tMva
Join us at our CCBA mtg at 7pm at the Curtis Bay rec to get involved in efforts to address health & safety issues in our community ...like the nation's largest medical waste incinerator + rsvp for the March 20th council hearing https://t.co/Ytv2iV31oG

"I have always historically rejected the idea that waste-to-energy should be in the Renewable Portfolio. [But] process matters” Senate Pres Ferguson in 2021. @SenBillFerg, it's 2024! The process is complete! Will you hold a vote on SB146, the Reclaim Renewable Energy Act?
Passing the #ReclaimRenewable Energy Act in #mdga24 is within reach - but only if legislative leaders decide to schedule it for a vote!
Please take 5 minutes today to make 4 phone calls - then email your own legislators here! https://t.co/Chc4GA4Iyw
Testified today for HB166, a bill to end renewable energy subsidies for trash incineration, which would free up millions of dollars to support true renewable energy. 11 colleagues and I on the Baltimore City Council signed a letter this week supporting this legislation.
remember to join us for the hearing on March 20th 10am at City hall to begin a long overdue public accountability process. RSVP here: https://t.co/YAkhMFrYtb
Another violation at nation's largest medical waste incinerator caught by community monitoring. @PhyliciaPorter_ more info for the upcoming hearing. @GovWesMoore@MDEnvironment please reconsider dismissing @CommunityCurtis call for an environmental state of emergency.
Watch "Don't Displace Curtis Bay!" responding to a Mayoral candidate's call to consider the removal of an entire community and add you're voice to those standing up for all of our community's right to lead our own development.

Thank you for standing up with us in Curtis Bay in our struggle for environmental justice. Join us on March 20th at 10am at City hall for a public hearing on the nation's largest medical waste incinerator and their ongoing refusal to follow the law. RSVP https://t.co/fqcEGuML6t
Yes, Maryland continues to direct millions in subsidies to burning trash & calls it a renewable energy program. D46 residents have spent nearly a decade trying right this injustice. @SenBillFerg do you need any more info about how this policy makes our everyday lives worse?
