50 years of CCC: A new home.
In 2002, Tenderloin Childcare Center moved into its own building at 144 Leavenworth, doubling capacity to support more families. We created brighter, more welcoming spaces for learning, with a continued focus on reaching those who need support most.
50 years of CCC: Building stability.
Tenderloin Childcare Center became licensed to run a daycare center in 1988. It was the first childcare center in SF to reserve slots for homeless children. With the support of our partners, we strengthened our programs and our impact.
50 years of CCC: Where it all began.
In 1976, the Tenderloin Childcare Center opened in a former YMCA ballroom. The childcare center operated as a drop-in center, providing daycare to children 0-9 years old who’s families were in urgent need of support.
In 1976, the Tenderloin Childcare Center opened its doors, giving young children a nurturing place to learn while their parents worked toward a stable future.
Today that center is Compass Children’s Center, and generations of San Francisco families have passed through its doors.
A wet winter is ahead and we want Compass families to be ready.
