@analyticflying Yes, these two were actually owned by Spirit and sold to a lessor hence no obligation to repaint (GA Telesis) . GAT then sold them on to Vietravel.
Spirit is also not a maintenance reserve payer generally speaking.
This is just self-flagilating imaginary bollocks
A bunch of activist international lawyers with mantras of anti-Western colonialism conspired to force today's situation
It will cost us billions and China will begin making overtures within 20 years
This was entirely voluntary.
Exc: Labour MP Peter Lamb goes studs up in a WhatsApp group after Keir Starmer's Chagos deal announcement:
"Getting real tired of this 'the courts have settled it' line of argument being wheeled out by the PM.
"They interpret current law, MPs make the law. You can't hide behind a judgement and claim it gives you cover from questions over what is right or proper."
Reason to give up Chagos:
* The legally non-binding advice of the ICJ
Reasons not to give up Chagos:
* Essential for national & international security
* Extortionate cost
* Chagossians against it
* Mauritius has no legal claim
* Details shrouded in secrecy
What am I missing?
Churchill spontaneously led the House of Commons in procession to Westminster Abbey for a thanksgiving service on VE Day - this is the order of service from that day; the Abbey held these services back-to-back for thousands of people throughout the day https://t.co/FlwUFz6E1r
Was looking through a copy of Janes Fighting Ships 2009-10 this week. Comparing the fleet then and the theoretical or anticipated replacement plans to what actually happened is depressing.
A grim thread...

1971 Fairoaks Aerodrome, Chobham. Ray Hanna puts the 1943 Spitfire Mk. IX MH434 through her paces at the Tiger Club airshow. The kind of performance that will likely never be repeated.
@SDoughtyMP You’re handing over the Chagos without any parliamentary scrutiny to a country that has never held sovereignty over the Islands, mistreats the Chagossians (who you did not even consult), and are paying for the privilege.
Why would anyone believe you now?
Britain has announced that it is run by the world's most gullible ruling class. ICYMI my write-up of the UK's decision to give away the Chagos Islands for @TheCriticMag. https://t.co/tnfMYkcUdu
Halfwits on Twitter insist that the government’s decision was some sort of moral victory or strategic brainwave.
Meanwhile, the islanders are trying to tell anyone who will listen that they have been betrayed.
'Mauritius walks away smelling of roses and a few millions richer in its pocket, as are its lawyers. As for Britain, it has just announced that it is run by the world’s most gullible ruling class.' https://t.co/2uyVLq6t6D
The Labour Government is paying another country taxpayers money to take away British territory. This will embolden China and weaken British and American power in the region.
And for absolutely no gain beyond nebulous 'good will'.
Is this what you voted for?
The UK government today announcing ceding the British Indian Ocean Territory to Mauritius against the will of most islanders is a betrayal of Chagos people, environmental protections and western security interests. It sets a dangerous precedent for other overseas territories too.
The Chagos Islands decision has made me more angry than anything else Labour has done since getting back in. Both at them, and the Tories for letting us get here.
The stupidity of those running this country is dangerous and destructive. We aren’t even 100 days in.
You've got to be a world class set of idiots to negotiate to give away once of the largest sections of oceans on the planet and pay to keep a base you already own
But Labour,Powell and the civil service have managed it
Apparently we have a £22bn blackhole and we just agreed to handover some of the most geostrategically valuable land in the world away and to somehow also agreed to pay for it.
