"Why did you update the Couchsurfing app?" You've been asking. Let's get real. Our old app was built a decade ago. It was glitchy, slow and the technology had gotten so old we could no longer make updates. Importantly, that meant it couldn't support new safety technologies. A completely new build had become unavoidable.

"Can you please change it back?" The new app is a complete rebuild. There's no path to migrate data back to the old app. What we can do is keep improving what's here. We're actively working on changes to make the new app better. Every day. We're using your feedback to guide every update we make.

"Is Couchsurfing dead?" Far from it. We're seeing more member-created events, more chats sent, more stays accepted, and more people finding friends every day than the old app. These are real stats pulled from our data. The community is more active than ever.

"Couchsurfing looks so different." Yes, we have a new look. And we will continue to consider how layout and navigation can be made easier for everyone. But that's all that is changing. We know it doesn't feel familiar yet, but Couchsurfing is still very much Couchsurfing at its core. The couches, the connections, the community. None of that changed. Just the wrapping.

To everyone who has been patient with us, thank you. Our look may have changed, but our mission hasn't. We're still here to connect travellers with a community that opens its doors, wherever you are in the world. We're listening. We're improving. And we're not going anywhere. Thanks for sticking with us 🧡
