Airfield Update: Runway 17R/35L (West Runway) reopened this afternoon, meaning all three runways at SDF are available and the airfield is fully operational following the aircraft incident on Tuesday, November 4.

The SDF team continues to keep the victims, their families and our community in our hearts following this tragic incident. We sincerely appreciate the quick response by the SDF Public Safety Department as the first units to the scene as well as the actions of so many mutual aid agencies from the city and state during this time.

Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky has reopened but multiple taxiways remain closed after UPS Flight 2976 crashed after taking off around 5:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 4. NTSB is launching a go-team to investigate Tuesday’s crash of a UPS MD-11 cargo aircraft, Flight 2976 near Louisville, Kentucky.

NTSB Board Member Todd Inman will serve as the on-scene spokesperson. The investigative team is scheduled to arrive in Kentucky tomorrow.
