What if we airdropped a suiplay cosmetic for the holders? Feel like they could do with some love 😉
Wouldn’t it be more civil and respectful to allow the project actually announce things themselves than doing this?
Doesn’t make sense to push out narratives because you were able to track wallets… the project is actually some people’s hard work
It would not take anything to be respectful
Anyways anything for likes and retweets nowadays
Testing the portal and game sync after a recent update to our Sui backend.
Warped Universe runs as both an onchain and offchain game depending on where you play it. On Steam, it's standard Web2 with no chain connection. On Epic Games, cosmetics, currency, and items live on the Sui Network. We did it this way so we could get an efficient, Steam-like marketplace experience on the Epic side without having to build and maintain a massive marketplace infrastructure ourselves. The fun thing is all players play together no matter what platform.
Sui recently had a major RPC update that required all projects to migrate. When we updated, our old item filters broke, which meant the game was structurally scanning the entire Sui Network just to find our specific items. That obviously caused backend traffic and costs to spike.
We spent some time restructuring the backend to use targeted event filters locked to our game package ID. Lookups are back to being quick and low-cost, and the fix is now live on production.
That fix is now out, but I was doing some testing and figured I'd show a bit of how it works. Every cosmetic item in Warped Universe can be obtained or purchased within the game, but also on our website portal at https://t.co/bCqKqIpZoi, no matter if you are on Steam or Epic. But if you are playing on Epic, the portal goes a bit further.
You connect your Sui wallet to your account, and all items can be transferred out of the game vault and into your personal wallet, and you can then trade on Sui in the marketplace of your choice, i.e. Tradeport. And as you can see in the video, it all is in sync with the game, so whatever you do in the game or on the portal, it stays in sync on both sides.
Unpopular opinion:
Sui’s community is becoming one of the biggest reasons people don’t want to build on $Sui.
And honestly, we’re dangerously close to repeating the same mistake we made in 2024.
The community keeps complaining about lack of liquidity, lack of projects, lack of users and lack of activity.
But the moment a new project or person enters the ecosystem, the first assumption is:
“They’re here to extract.”
How the hell are we supposed to grow like that?
Not every new project is a scam. Not everyone coming into Sui is trying to drain the ecosystem. And not every project needs permission from the existing Sui crowd to exist.
If you think a project is bad, expose it. Do your research. Warn people. Fine.
But constantly attacking anything new just because it isn’t already part of our little ecosystem circle is not protecting Sui. It’s choking Sui.
And this whole “we already have X, so why do we need another one?” mentality is ridiculous.
Just because we have @blastdotfun doesn’t mean another launchpad shouldn’t exist.
Competition is good.
More projects are good.
More founders experimenting are good.
More liquidity is good.
More users are good.
You cannot chase every new opportunity out of the ecosystem and then turn around and complain that Sui has no liquidity.
You can’t have it both ways.
If Sui actually wants to become a major ecosystem, the community needs to stop acting like there’s a limited number of seats at the table.
There’s room for more people.
There’s room for more projects.
Let people build.
