Anneliese Michel, born in 1952, was a German woman who underwent 67 Catholic exorcism rites, lasting upto 4 hours each, during the year before her death in 1976. She died of malnutrition & dehydration; her parents and the priests responsible were convicted of negligent homicide.

She was diagnosed with epileptic psychosis (temporal lobe epilepsy) and had a history of psychiatric treatment that proved ineffective.
