Community members discuss how they would like to see the greening of Dublin 8.They want children to identify and adopt a local tree and garden trees using the @curioxyz app and care and follow the trees as living icons in their neighbourhoods.
@DublinCARO@curioxyz We are actually doing something VERY similar on our local green! Children are adopting trees by giving them a name of their choosing and may incorporate its growth into their curriculum. Trees are going on 19th March, welcome to come🤞maybe we can partner up!
@CamCanopyProj@curioxyz Not live trees but we have just 'planted' the 12 log slices you donated. We aligned them with compass points and also as a clockface. But mainly as stepping stones. Thank you!
In the park Hawthorn rightly mapped as Crataegus x lavallei by @CamCanopyProj on @curioxyz bursting its buds.
Elsewhere what looks like a forked tree is two, buds on one trunk but not on other. Maybe (unmapped) C. monogyna (in bud) & C. persimilis.🤔@CamNatHistSoc @TheStreetTree
Introducing #TreeTuesday! Each week we'll share some interesting tree facts. To get things started, did you know there are 335,884 trees (& shrubs >1.2m) in Cambridge. Most are privately owned in residential gardens, but @camcitco own & manage >30,000 #CamTrees#UrbanForest
'Trees are a part of the cities infrastructure .... the vast majority of trees are really small' listen back to Dr Gerald Mills from yesterday's @IvanYatesNT#greeningthecity https://t.co/24LN8VRBOk
@MarinoLiving @neasa_neasa @darylmul @GardenCityShane Nice work on that map @MarinoLiving. If you have time, check out https://t.co/zsoI3C0L13, it's all completely free for public communities, to improve environmental monitoring. Also, there's no catch. We don't collect personal data or advertise at you or any of that craic.
@neasa_neasa Hi Neasa, we're actually doing some work on this with DCC at the moment. You can see an early dashboard here https://t.co/zsoI3C0L13 but there is a lot more data on the way. It would be worth connecting with @DublinGreening in Inchicore, they are doing amazing stuff around this
Brilliant stuff! Looking forward to seeing Dublin's trees getting recorded. Would be great to get a sense of the natural cultural heritage of the area and its trees from the people living there 🌳😀
