Delighted to speak at an exhibition that captures the essence of Banaras — a city that is a living embodiment of India's spiritual, cultural, and artistic heritage.

This exhibition by Delhi Art Gallery is meticulously curated by Gayatri Sinha & explores Banaras as it was, as it is, and as it could be.

We encounter Banaras as seen through the eyes of artists such as Thomas Daniell, William Hodges, James Prinsep, and Edwin Lord Weeks and also Indian artists like Ram Kumar, Manu Parekh, L.N. Taskar & M.F.Hussain.

Fascinating challenges : How do we balance heritage and progress? How do we keep the soul of Banaras alive even as it embraces modernity? With me were Timothy Curtis , UNESCO Rep in india & Art critic Kishore Singh.
