Issy McGrath, our Chairperson joined @RNIBScotland for a Parliamentary Reception to mark 200 years of braille and celebrate its ongoing importance for people with sight loss.
It was a fantastic celebration of accessibility, and the lasting impact of braille.

Did you know there are a lot of different types of canes? Many people use canes to support them to move around, from guide canes to symbol canes, they're all used slightly differently!

As we close out 2024, we’re glad to see the significant progress in having Deafblindness recognised as a distinct disability. But we know the fight isn’t over.
Our goal is clear: we want 2025 to be about equality. Together, let’s make 2025 a year of real change.
After a worrying week of being informed that @ContactScotland BSL would come to an end in March we are delighted that the First Minister agreed during First Ministers questions that the service will be re tendered with no breaking service for BSL users that rely on it.
Christine, one of our dedicated Guide/Communicators, shares her thoughts… “I support a deafblind man to go to football. What I see, I draw on his hand… every kick of the ball.”

Powerful message from Brianna to @JennyGilruth and other MSPs debating the Education (Scotland) Bill in the Scottish Parliament today, about the difference recognising the specific needs of users and learners of BSL in the bill would make to deaf young people in Scotland 👇
Today’s debate in @ScotParl
on the Education (Scotland) Bill is critical for BSL users & learners. We stand with @DeafAction@RNID@NDCS_UK@Childrendeaf@dbscotland@BDA_Scot and local groups in calling for recognition of BSL.

There is no place for this kind of discrimination.
We are proud to stand with our member Colin, who continues to advocate for the rights of Deafblind people.

Help us stop this unfair policy and gain fair pay for staff that go many extra miles to improve the lives of Deafblind people.
Social care staff need more than warm words this winter. We need fair pay.
Please show your support for the #MoreThanWarmWords campaign.
Our board members know too well the challenges of running a social care service with staff paid on the basic real living wage.
As we face difficult budget decisions this lack of parity with similar health service professionals continues to be unfair for our Guide communicators.
Our workforce of Guide communicators that train for up to 7 years in a range of visual and tactile languages.
Now we face this unfair further blow of shouldering the increases to employers national insurance. Charities have few ways to bring in money to cover this.
