@DeepakSardiwal_@court_union @DulwichFestival @ArtistsOpenHse @DulwichSociety@HerneHillSoc Nice to meet you today. Our Chair guided a tour around Dorchester Court and local ArtDeco houses. It was lovely to meet so many people interested in their community and in #LocalHistory
Live music, art exhibitions, guided heritage walk, community stalls, refreshments and good vibes.
The Dulwich Festival was very much in full swing this afternoon at Dorchester Court ☀️
Congratulations to all involved.
Very thankful to Ian for running two well-attended history tours that told the story of our estate - both its rich past and current disrepair due to our landlord’s neglect
We urgently need to get eyes on this, as the threat of eviction is imminent. Please share and amplify and tweet @ @helenhayes_@lambeth_council@hondolondon - show them that we are watching them and won't stand by while Brixton's traders are bullied by Taylor McWilliams. [2/
EVICTION ALERT!
Taylor McWilliams is trying to kick out Phil's Fruit + Veg, which has been part of Brixton Market for 20 years!
Look as this appalling email from Hondo and see just how little they think of their tenants- their tenants who make all their profit for them. [1/
Jacob Rees-Mogg today opened new North Sea oil and gas licensing.
This isn't about energy bills (it won't affect prices and renewables are 9x cheaper).
It's about profits for fossil fuel companies, who (coincidentally) donated £1,500,000+ to the Tories since the last election.
Glad to get notice of @thameswater acting on lead hazard by starting replacement of pipes from water main to Dorchester Court.
The same notice says that lead pipes within buildings should also be replaced for a full resolution of the problem!
We're all distressed after receiving letter from @LambethCouncil revoking past improvement notice on lead hazards

Read on for why this u-turn has us concerned!

Water at Dorchester Court @court_union in #London flows through lead pipes. Over 1/2 of flats have lead levels over the legal limit & residents have to buy bottled water. Infants are particularly at risk as lead can cause miscarriage, pre-term birth, lower IQ & behavioural issues
"The tap water in Ben Archard’s apartment in the Herne Hill neighbourhood of south London flows through toxic lead pipes, increasing the risk of brain damage to his children..."

Week ago more masonry fell off the buildings, this time from 3rd floor window lintel.
Landlord didn't notify residents - people walking underneath affected areas unaware.
Dangerous structures notice was already served ~20 years ago, ready for @lambeth_council to take action!
Rare mid-20th century house in #HerneHill saved! Faced with demolition by new owner, local experts, @HerneHillSoc & @C20Society persuaded Lambeth to issue a temporary Building Protection Notice. Historic England now announce Grade II listed building protection!
⚠️ Lambeth requires a programme to build new social homes that doesn’t require the need to demolish people’s existing homes or tear local communities apart. Read about our pledge here: https://t.co/88yOctbV95 #VoteGreen2022#HousingCrisis
From the Evening Standard article - landlord again saying they are appealing @lambeth_council's enforcement action + will only address hazards if given redevelopment (which evicts us all).
Contractors say bypassing lead pipes is cheap + non-invasive, we are being held hostage!
This week’s review: Sugarcane London. The Caribbean food at this south London cafe is terrific. The story of care leaver Chef Tee and what he has done with this tiny space and to help others is joyous. I hope you find time to read. https://t.co/wJo3ttIE0x
