I completely agree except the snippet section—yes, mapping contests are about comparing mapping skill, but opening old pdc megasets and having 8+ maps to play was hype as fuck. imo mapping contests should still create complete maps as end products

@Camocratic i do agree theres a concern with ranking ai maps because u are giving people something to generate infinite maps with, but moralizing over people generating ai maps for themselves to play or implying that ai maps cant be fun is something I find very disagreeable

@circlesize i definitely have been frustrated by the hp system but some of the most exciting moments for me when i was new were because of the spikiness of hp

it's not a good indicator of performance but that doesn't necessarily make it "unfair" at low sr (esp. where notelock is a nonissue)

but in general I think it's ok for people to map "for pp" or for whatever other reason as long as the end result makes a good map, then it's ok to rank
