Child Safety Week 2026 was successfully conducted on 06 June 2026 under the aegis of #CommandHospital (Southern Command). The Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026, a flagship initiative of MUHS, concluded successfully at AFMC Pune, marking two weeks of immersive learning, innovation and clinical exposure. Twenty medical students from across Maharashtra engaged in hands-on training across diverse domains including Clinical Prediction Modelling, AI in Pathology, Medical Genetics, Leprosy, Pharmacology, Medication Safety, Newborn Screening, Blood-borne Infections, Obesity Management and Electrophoresis. Through patient interactions, research activities and mentorship by experts, they gained valuable insights into the future of healthcare. Beyond academics, the students experienced the unique ethos of AFMCโwhere excellence in medicine is shaped by military discipline, leadership, integrity and service to the nation.

A CME on โLife Above the Clouds: Innovations in Understanding & Treating High Altitude Illnessโ was conducted by Fire & Fury Corps on 05โ06 Jun 26, bringing together military and medical experts to advance high-altitude healthcare. Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, GOC, FireandFury Corps inaugurated the CME. Surg VAdm Arti Sarin, #DGAFMS and Lt Gen CG Muralidharan, DGMS (Army) addressed the gathering via VC, highlighting the pivotal role of #AFMS in safeguarding troops deployed in some of the worldโs most challenging high-altitude environments. The GOC Trishul Division shared operational insights on CASEVAC challenges in mountainous terrain. Scientific deliberations, operational perspectives and contemporary advances in high-altitude medicine reinforced medical preparedness and excellence in healthcare delivery .

Colonel MM Ghosh (Retd) has remained focused on the upliftment of the people of his native place. The veteran has distributed free food and medicines, school uniforms and stationery to over 1000 students. Further, he has also regularly organised medical check-ups for the needy, free of cost.
Lieutenant Colonel Krishna Chandra Mishraย (Retd) continues to serve the society through veteran welfare and youth empowerment initiatives. He has dedicated himself to social service and veteran welfare in Basti District, Uttar Pradesh.
Subedar Major Raghu Raj Singh remains actively involved in ESM welfare activities related to re-employment, re-settlement and resolution of land issues. The veteran has been instrumental in generating employment for more than 800 ESM in Indian Railways and more than 300 ESM in the dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation.
Sergeant Mahendra Kumar Singh had commenced independent legal practice at Lucknow post his retirement and had devoted himself to the welfare of War Widows, Veer Naris and their dependents by providing legal assistance.

At the prestigious Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (#ASCO2026), one of the worldโs largest oncology conferences, Col Amol Patel of #ArmyHospital (R&R) represented the #AFMS on the global stage. Invited as a speaker and debater during the Lung Cancer Education Session, the officer presented the Pro position on โLow-Dose Immunotherapy/Novel Follow-On Drugsโ and showcased AFMS studies on low dose immunotherapy. The discussion generated significant interest in balancing efficacy, affordability and equitable access to modern cancer care. Col Patel also contributed to the Global Oncology Community of Practice Session, engaging with international experts on reducing disparities in cancer care and advancing collaborative research initiatives worldwide. Further highlighting AFMS innovation, an AFMS study on repurposing Losartan for gallbladder cancer was presented as a poster, drawing appreciation from global leaders in biliary tract cancers for its pragmatic and impactful approach. The participation underscored the growing contribution of Indian Oncology research to global cancer care and reaffirmed that scientific rigor, innovation and collaboration can help shape the future of oncology worldwide.
