Nine years ago this month, I graduated from esthetics school. This National Esthetician Day, I’m looking back at how much of my life grew from that one decision. 🩷

I started with a tiny suite, building my clientele one appointment, referral, and relationship at a time. I created my own products, grew into my own location, and generated $154,000 in revenue within my first 12 months in South Loop.

While I was focused on being a good esthetician, I was also learning how to run an entire business. Sales, inventory, client retention, finances, marketing, operations…if something needed to happen, I had to figure it out. No department to forward it to. I was the department.

That experience helped me break into corporate sales and operations. I moved from Chicago to Phoenix, worked with SkinBetter Science at L’Oréal, then Colgate-Palmolive’s skin health division with EltaMD/PCA Skin. I got to experience the industry from inside the companies whose products reached treatment rooms like mine.
