The operation uncovered high levels of none compliance with some Labour Laws namely; Unemployment Insurance Fund Act, National Minimum Wage Act, COIDA and Occupational Health and Safety Act and we further detained at least 80 illegal immigrants and their employers for breaching the Immigration Act of the Republic of South Africa.

[UPDATE] Almost 90 undocumented migrants have been found at a construction site in Sunninghill, north of Johannesburg, during a multidisciplinary blitz operation. Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Jomo Sibiya and Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero are leading the inspection to enforce compliance with labour and other applicable laws. This morning, we joined the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Jomo Sibiya and other law enforcement agencies in Sandton for a labour compliance inspection.

The joint labour compliance operation at a construction site in Sandton remains underway, with 66 arrests effected thus far.
