•RBG had four cancer diagnoses and stayed
•Feinstein spent her final years being reminded to vote by a colleague whispering in her ear and stayed

@gtconway3d He was living in Maryland. Looked up the seat on Wikipedia. Moved to Manhattan. Registered as a Democrat. Now promising one term only.
Every politician who ever served 30 years started somewhere saying they weren't a politician.
@daveweigel The DSCC anointed a candidate, the establishment tried to clear the field, and now they're dealing with the fallout. When party machinery picks winners instead of voters, this is what happens.
@selinawangtv How many GOP members have you asked how they square backing the the president who was found liable for sexually abusing a woman and defamation of that woman? I'm sure you have. Just curious how often it comes up.
Democrats in Maine weren't that concerned about the larger impact nationwide. Otherwise they would have looked around their state house, which has many Democrats, and encouraged and coalesced around a candidate.

@queerBengali Who is we? Did no one else in Maine care to run? Are there not 200+ electeds in the state government?
Where are they? Did they all mistakenly miss the filing deadline?
No one else cared enough to run.
@souljagoyteller What this situation exposes is that many people lack the connections and means to cover up their problematic traits.
Many of our electeds are just as troublesome, but born into or made their way into elite communities that protect them from accountability or exposure.

She's TIRED
