Author of The Father, The Son and The Pyjama-Wearing Spirit - a philosophy novel from Garnet Publishing. And arguably very close to grasping #themeaningoflife
@steveemig43 I think many writers would say the best bits of their work are the ones they read back and say 'I don't remember much about writing that bit" because it just flowed through them without too much cortex involvement.
"With my watery power
I'll shape life to my will"
Says the back-garden tap
From the top of its hill
But as its water runs free
To feed living earth
It smiles at how taps
Give vanity birth.
@professorjpj@ProfBrianCox@Justinwelby@rickygervais Thanks for the poem Johnny. Very thought provoking although I'm a bit uncomfortable with the 'you' and 'I' terminology as I see things in terms of there being the creative force of the universe and humans being taps that channel that force into the world. No you and I separation.
How many of us see our Creator as being the intelligence behind the natural laws shaping the universe rather than a beardy bloke on a throne? @ProfBrianCox@JustinWelby@rickygervais
An Extraordinary Union by @AlyssaColeLit is a superb piece of storytelling, set against the backdrop of one of the cruellest chapters in human history. Really loved it!
@lisekimhorton@AlyssaColeLit Hi Lise, thanks very much for your comment. I live in London so am unlikely to ever meet Alyssa but it's great to know she's admired by people who know her personally.
@ChrityNicholas @AlyssaColeLit@NHibert Hi Christy, I'm guessing your question is aimed at Alyssa Cole rather than me but thanks very much for taking an interest in my post.
@CMichael_Author Thanks for the kind words Michael. For anyone else reading this, the point of the verses is that we are simply taps whose real purpose is to channel intangible phenomena into the world, such as consciousness, thought and love.

Hidden gems by Michael Elder from the golden age of British sci-fi writing have come to light thanks to his son's efforts in publishing them. The Alien Earth is a must-read!
@mkrmauthor Agreed Robin! In a room full of peace lovers it only takes one power-mad self-aggrandiser with a gun to make the whole group arm themselves. But hopefully we'll evolve into something better one day.
What would happen if we appointed world leaders who prized compassion, love and peace rather than playing hardball and winning at all costs? Maybe a single day in human history when we weren't blowing each other to pieces?
@Lisa_Wingata @ProfBrianCox@Justinwelby@rickygervais The book is a Buddhism apologetic so no second coming of Christ is covered but rather the idea that we need as a species to evolve into something better than we are now. Thanks for taking an interest @Lisa_Wingata
Humanity and all living things are the work of God. Soldiers who commit atrocity in God's name need to pray harder for understanding of what is the will of God and what most definitely is not.
@England
Let's not get hung up on the group results. Portugal won the 2016 Euros after 3 group stage draws - 1:1 with Iceland; 0:0 Austria; 3:3 Hungary.
Italy won the 1982 World Cup after 3 group stage draws - 1:1 with Peru; 0:0 Poland; 1:1 Cameroon. #ComeOnEngland
