Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

Rep. Keating to Rubio: "I'm sure you're aware that Ukraine, country that at the time had third-largest nuclear arsenal, peacefully turned over their nuclear weapons in conjunction with Budapest Memorandum.
And in exchange for U.S. commitment to defend Ukraine if it ever came under threat. The U.S. gave its word to Ukraine that it would defend them.
And I find this amazing. In your opening remarks, as you took us all over the world and mentioned 15 different incidents where you have interceded — 15, the top 15 — not once did you mention Ukraine when you were prioritizing achievements that are there."
So you're worth $272 billion and you've given away less than 1% to mostly ineffective charities.
Maybe that's the real problem here?
Here's a suggestion @JeffBezos: drop the vanity projects, ditch the Earth Fund debacle, fund the most impactful orgs with the best evidence-based interventions, and you could save tens of millions of lives + make a massive difference in the fight against some of the greatest challenges and moral catastrophes we face as a species (from factory farming to malaria, from tuberculosis to the threat of the next pandemic).

I don’t think people want pure capitalism or pure socialism.
People just want to afford rent.
Go to the doctor without fear.
Have clean streets, good schools, decent wages, and still have freedom.
The happiest countries on earth figured out that balance matters.
Too much greed destroys people.
Too much control does too.
Most normal people are just asking for a system that actually lets them live.
Dear @JDVance: Gas prices are up. Grocery prices are up. We are in a war against Iran.
Why are you in Hungary campaigning for a Hungarian politician who is also a puppet for Putin? Like, WTF are you doing?
The MAGA crowd doesn’t know that the infrastructure bill was passed under the Biden administration with a bipartisan majority and the republicans who voted against it take credit for it. They are truly gullible.
Can we all just agree now that this man is trying to redesign the world based on whatever scifi books he read as a teenager and has no idea how anything actually works???
