National Survey: Ergonomics, Workload and Musculoskeletal Health in General Surgery
We are inviting General surgeons and residents in the United Kingdom and Ireland to participate in a national survey examining ergonomic working conditions, workload, and musculoskeletal health within general surgery.
The survey explores operating posture, theatre set-up, procedural exposure, musculoskeletal and visual symptoms, reporting behaviours, and access to ergonomic training. Findings will be used to inform evidence-based improvements in surgical ergonomics, training provision, and workplace design.
📌 Who can take part: Consultants, SAS/LED doctors, and General Surgery trainees
⏱ Time commitment: Approximately 6-7 minutes
🔐 Participation: Anonymous and voluntary
This work is a Dukes’ Club initiative, conducted in collaboration with the @roux_group .

Team Dukes 💙
We had a fantastic time at our face-to-face committee meeting this weekend — with both in-person and virtual members joining from across the UK and Ireland.
It was a great opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come this year, plan exciting things for 2026, and most importantly… catch up with the incredible people behind the Dukes’ Club.
We’re so lucky to have such a passionate, creative, and driven team of trainees working together to shape the future of colorectal surgery.
