@LadieAuPair@TheSlasherChick@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom Sorry I didn't mean to discredit any work being done by accessibility teams. I just meant to say the amount of truly blind accessible games is lower than it should be, that's all. I didn't intend to have such a predatory or dismissive tone to my statement earlier.
@LadieAuPair@TheSlasherChick@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom Yeah I'm a fan of those talks, and I love the accessibility measures being taken.
Sea of Thieves is a favourite of mine, and despite measures like narrated compasses, it isn't classified as blind-accessible. Not a slight against the game! But it isn't there and might never be.
@TheSlasherChick@LadieAuPair@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom Absolutely, and again I think that's why I'm feeling weird about this, my vision is far too focused in one area for me to have objectivity at the moment. Thanks for your help.
@TheSlasherChick@LadieAuPair@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom worry that things will worsen when including *more criteria* inside of this already largely ignored condition & what makes a disabled gamer. But like you say & I agree, it's possible to have the opposite effect: more advocacy, more noise & more awareness. Thanks for your wisdom!
@TheSlasherChick@LadieAuPair@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom and as such I think I'm a bit too focused in on blindness as a disability. From my perspective, the world is doing virtually nothing to further include blind people in gaming with the exception of games like mine, Hearthstone and the recent Forza accommodations, I can't help but
@ActiveB1t @Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom To be clear, those aren't my words. I was directly quoting a specific study done by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
@LadieAuPair@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom I just want to be clear, I was never against accommodations and it's been said by others here that I am, and I've been painted as not supportive of good mental health. It's not the case. I was only worrying about the shared classification.
Thanks for your insight!
@LadieAuPair@Super_Crip1994@inversedotcom I agree with all of this. How would a game design team design a game that avoids triggering a PTSD flashback in every player?
@Super_Crip1994@LadieAuPair Did you also see the part where I said I believe I might be wrong? Convenient to leave that out.
I'm seeking wisdom.
This isn't going anyplace good. We should both take some time to relax I think.
@Super_Crip1994@LadieAuPair Yes. And yet, lacking from your quote are the words "more important" and "accommodations."
That's important. You should care about that.
@Super_Crip1994@LadieAuPair When did I say, and I'm quoting you, "more important?"
You're coming in hot here, especially because I've said multiple times I hadn't considered points Tara brought up and I need time to reflect.
A note: not once did I say mental health didn't deserve accommodations. Not once.
@Super_Crip1994@LadieAuPair If this is directed at me, please let me know which phrase led you to believe that I think this.
If you can't, please delete this tweet because I have a problem with anyone saying that I believe some disabilities are more important than others. Especially because I never said it
