Join HISTORY and honor the living legend herself, Opal Lee, by signing up with Team DCDP in Opal's Walk for Freedom on Juneteenth! ✊🏾🔥
Lee campaigned for decades to make Juneteenth a federal holiday. She promoted the idea by leading 2.5 miles walks each year, representing the 2.5 years it took for news of the Emancipation Proclamation to reach Texas. In June 2021, President Joe Biden signed Juneteenth into Federal Law.
Honor the Grandmother of Juneteenth's efforts by walking with us, alongside other activists and community members to commemorate the holiday. 💙

Governor Abbott closed out his speech at the Texas GOP convention with a live elephant. It then peed on the floor as it left the room.
The perfect metaphor for the Texas Republican Party.
Joint Runoff Election Day 🗳️
Polls are open today, June 13 from 7 AM to 7 PM.
A Joint Runoff Election is when multiple cities and districts across the county hold their runoff races on the same day. That's today and if you live in one of these communities, your race is on the ballot:
DeSoto, Farmers Branch, Grand Prairie, Irving, Lancaster, Sachse, and Seagoville.
Local elections decide who controls your city budget, your streets, your schools, and your public safety. The margins are small and your vote carries real weight today.
