If you continue to discuss “how the get people back to the races,” and don’t understand that people used to flock to the track to BET, then you are completely wasting your breath and everyone else’s time. Racetracks used to be packed because it was the ONLY place to bet with bookmakers, rather than the TAB. Almost all administrators treat gambling as racings, “dirty little secret,” and pretend people will come back if they promote, “the athletes,” meaning the horses and the jockeys. All clubs across the country have been actively involved in decimating the on course betting experience. Exhibit One, Flemington. Unless you make it financially advantageous to go to the track, then the chance of getting big crowds back to racecourses on a regular basis is zero. Zero.

Only tune in from time to time (usually when I get a mention) but nice to see someone speaking with zero self interest and calling a spade a spade. Any chance a little birdie hat I seem to have misplaced mine and would like to #recapture it @J_Walter23

Don’t understand criticism of @wboolracingclub track. It is a balancing act to prepare a track for jump and flat racing. Nor do understand the obsession to “bet early” not hard to sit back and wait before pulling the trigger. It also makes eliminating a number of chances simple.
@nickheathcote@wboolracingclub You’re anti prizemoney so shouldn’t be fussed by turnover if you want to point a finger at higher % markets spin the wheel again it’s not turnover nor bias tracks it’s taxes. As for setting a horse I would have thought conditions were ideal for Britt on Tuesday as market said
@troseph141@wboolracingclub I think it’s been well documented today but only damages the industry when you have RV employed and or sponsored programs suggesting not to bet or reduce bet amount. Granted a lot of punters aren’t able to bet race by race but criticism doesn’t help much either
@troseph141@wboolracingclub No justifiable response from me on that issue mate other than saying it’s a great carnival with jumps that would become a Ho hum 2 day carnival without them so maybe as a stakeholder as an owner/trainer look elsewhere very similar prizemoney available most weeks
@J_Walter23@wboolracingclub I don’t know much but big believer no early betting would increase turnover make for a more vibrant marketplace but we can never go back now
@J_Walter23@wboolracingclub Totally! A lot of click bait I read a racing station tweet today headline “impossible to bet” well don’t suss out what’s doing and bet accordingly but bottom line it’s not the ATC with million of budget to spend on track it is essentially a bush meeting and a good one at that!
