Pretty 👀 moment in the very bitter Rhode Island gubernatorial debate last week between Dan McKee, the unpopular incumbent, and Helena Foulkes, who is probably going to beat him in the Dem primary next month:

Foulkes: "I'm certainly not disparaging the state of Rhode Island, I'm disparaging its governor."

McKee: "I am the state of Rhode Island."

I have many friends who have now gone into the AI "labs" (aka companies). I don't judge them for being attracted by interesting work, frontier AI access, and $$.

But the brain drain is real, and independent researchers are more valuable than ever. Come join (any org like) CSET!

Maybe people don’t believe me, that’s fine, but visiting Ukraine has been deeply touching for me. It has opened my eyes to things I was blinded to before and has really impacted the way I view human suffering and how I perceive humanity and threats to US national security. My time in Ukraine has been life changing. I’m never going to forget this and I’m interested in seeing what else it inspires me to do and report on in the future.

You’ll have to travel to Ukraine yourself and see it yourself to understand what I am talking about. Never thought I’d say this. But, I see why Lindsey Graham loved Ukraine so much. I see it now.
