@brendonb86 Why would it be the same people?
Sanchez was known for being a fast, physical defender who lacked technical ability even at Ajax.
Van Hecke is one of the best ball-players in the Prem with some ?s over his defending.
Unlikely to be rated by "all the same people" imo
We've *really* doubled down on the "prem proven" transfer approach we started to see in the post-Poch years this Summer, haven't we? https://t.co/D8GtCEnxtY
@Swoopspurs7 Walker didn't come back as the finished product though, he continued to develop overtime and only really hit his potential under Poch. I rate Vuskovic, but he's not the finished product either.
@Swoopspurs7 I'm not advocating losing him though, I'm saying we shouldn't rush him. We know Bundesliga is weaker than the Prem, even more experienced players almost always need time to adapt.
@Swoopspurs7 We're obviously not gonna get Diomande, but I don't get your point here.
Youre claiming they're just signing free transfers and kids, but saying they should sign a 19yo over the older and more experienced Savinho / and play Takai instead of signing Van Hecke?
@Swoopspurs7 But it wasn't the physicality of Lukaku that was the issue, Vuskovic is just very slow on the turn and in a high line that's a concern. Can be worked on over time but Van Hecke is much closer to being the finished product. (And good for Vuskovic to learn from)
@Swoopspurs7 Phillips is very limited on the ball. Can't see RDZ taking to him. Takai had injuries and likely goes out on loan again.
And yes Vuskovic is a massive talent, but has weaknesses (see Lukaku's second vs Croatia the other night). I wouldn't put all pur eggs in that basket.
@ChampionshipYid Yeah it makes sense. Senesi was a smart target but Van Hecke is would be really exciting. Really good ball-player. I do wonder if that means Porro may be off though.
@hbrooks_coach Quick defenders can cover space in behind better than slow ones. If you chuck a ball in behind a slow defender, it's possible for a quicker defender alongside him to get there first (ie. cover).
Obviously won't work every time, but definitely useful to have.
@Kish_P14 If VDV is staying then I'm not sure the RCB does need to be that quick. There hasn't really been much to suggest he'll be left back under RDZ.
๐จ Tottenham Hotspur submit bid to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion. #THFC offer for 25yo centre-back below #BHAFC valuation so rejected, but talks continue in bid to strike agreement. Dutch intโl close to Roberto De Zerbi @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/kiZ9NDIURF
@BillyMcgon@THFCmitch@JaiP72@SniersMoregut Technically has 7 goals in 2 seasons (all comps). Just the 1 fewer than Kudus. But his goalscoring definitely can improve.
Also, I'm not sure I get your question; are you asking how I know that City rejected bids and offered him a new deal?
@BillyMcgon@THFCmitch@JaiP72@SniersMoregut Yes, wanted to keep. They rejected big money for him last Summer and gave him a new contract. Pep was a big part in that.
Personally liked what I saw from him in his first season at City. Very quick, skilful, good crosser and can play right or left. Maybe needs confidence now.
