I am excited to announce the release date (September 22, my father's z'l yahrtzeit) of my upcoming book "As a Ram Yearns for the Brook" available on Amazon! For more info see https://t.co/2JyJfvz2al
@mehdirhasan This would be like telling a Muslim not to conflate their connection to Mecca, so outlandish. Even if there are Jews (a minority) who do not conflate the two, most do because if you just open up a bible the religion is blatantly interwoven with the land and statehood in Israel.
A little Nechama for the end of Tisha Baav…this is 60 teens from all over the world, from different denominations who are singing at the end of Tisha Baav at Blair Arch at Princeton University…and we made sure there was a pathway for people to walk…unlike other protests
Today is the 15th of the Jewish month of Shevat, which marks the New Year for the Trees.
An obvious question emerges: Look around! The trees haven’t bloomed. They are dead and bare! Not a flower to be seen; a fruit to be picked. How is this the New Year for the Trees?
The Sages offer a profound answer, which applies to all areas of life, including this Knicks season:
The trees may LOOK dead to you, but at this time of year the process begins to bring forth leaves, flowers, and fruit. The sap begins its work in earnest inside the tree, beneath the service, invisible to the naked eye.
Some might say, the magic is in the work. When it comes to reaching your goals, early process is more important than early results. Rebirth begins with the hard work done in the trenches, before anyone else can see any progress.
Happy Tu BiShevat to those who celebrate!
This was the Sivan family saying Kadish (January) in Kfar Azah, 15 feet away from where their daughter was brutally murdered, I still cannot fathom the strength it took... may all the kedoshims' nishamot have an Aliyah and may their family's find some nechama ❤️
Tomorrow is 11 months from Shmeini Etzeret - October 7th. Many will be finishing saying Kadish for their loved ones in the next few days and weeks. It is a time of mixed emotions for mourners, relief and sadness. These two months in between finishing Kadish and Yarhzeit (1/4)
the departed…and if you don’t know anyone who is, I suggest taking time over the next month or two to do one act of Kiddush Hashem as there will be a loss of major Kiddush Hashem over the next few weeks, and below is a glimpse of that Kiddush Hashem:
Hey Friends,
Sorry I’ve been late on a couple of grades here. Allow me a pause in the Knicks winning-streak festivities to talk about something even MORE important to me than the Knicks - much more important in fact.
My grandfather - or Zaida as we fondly called him - passed away last night at the incredible age of 97. He meant the world to me.
He was an extraordinary individual. They just don’t make em like my Zaida anymore. A child of the depression in Brooklyn, a veteran of WW2 who fought oversees, a completely self-made, successful businessman, an undefeated amateur boxer, devoted husband of 1, father of 3, grandfather of 10, great-grandfather of 21.
Strong as an ox but with the gentleness and beautiful, soft-singing voice of a canary; steadfast in his moral principles and his faith despite considerable struggle and loss; the best story and joke-teller I’ve ever known; as charming and witty as any movie-star of his or any era.
I’m 31 and I promise he barely changed in strength or appearance since I was born, until, unfortunately, the last couple of weeks.
I almost never get personal on here, but man, if I have all these followers for anything, it’s to share the incredible story of Arthur Ritholtz; and to ask that we embrace his lessons of courage, faith, hope, family, and kindness.
Just last Sunday, the last time I saw him, he told me he listened to one of my podcasts. He had “no idea what [I was] talking about,” but of course, thought I was incredible 😂. He always encouraged me to follow my passions, cherish my family, and man, he was just ALWAYS proud of me. I know he still is. I’m gonna miss him terribly.
Anyways, hug your loved ones, cherish them, send a prayer our way if you get the chance, and be good to people. Zaida made it look easier than anyone, but we can all do it if we try.

Upper West Side NYC - “f*ck you and f*ck Israel” … other woman “f*ck you b*tch … f*ck you and Israel” while both tearing down posters of kidnapped Israeli children taken by Hamas terrorists.
Help identify them!
Just saw this on Broadway….not sure who did this, but it’s heart breaking and powerful all at the same time.
A small metaphors for Am Yisrael right now, so much pain but so much love ❤️ 💔❤️
…also tziporah doesn’t drop him in after
15) Yitro’s daughters did not bring Moshe to Yitro back him immediately
16) Not Yitro at first but Reuel in the text
More to come later and please add!
Prince of Egypt Thread:
What to do when students ask (legitimately!) to watch Prince of Egypt because half of the class is already away, and it’s the day before vacation?!?
Obvs watch it, with being super critical of the movie compared to the Torah!
Here’s what we came up with:
11) No day two after Moshe kills the Egyptian with “Datan and Aviram”
12) Pharoh wanted to kill Moshe (not sweep it under the rug (a bad pre pessach practice btw)
13) Moshe in Kush before Midyan (a deep cut of a Midrash if I’ve ever seen one)
14) Moshe didn’t fall into well…
