New government data confirms that the temporary accommodation bill is spiralling - impact on local councils at a time when they already face huge financial pressure is enormous...

Councils in England spent a total of £2.93 billion on temporary accommodation to accommodate households who are homeless between April 2025 and March 2026. This is an 88 per cent increase in five years!!

A very serious fire in #lewisham we just passed on the train. Hats off to the @Se_Railway teams doing their best to keep everyone moving - it is going to be the long way round tonight for a lot of us but you can really see how large it is here. Keep the windows closed if passing!
